Choron ka raja
Ive been a .net developer myself for the past 5 years as well. Ok, Mr. Drag and dropper, Connect to a DB, and join 2 tables without actually writing a single line of code, nor an SQL query. Possible? You just cannot deny you get more control with code rather than drag and drop. Drag and drop will only take you so far. Building an entire application with drag and drop is pure nonsense. Either that app doesn't have non trivial functionality, or you're using a third party framework to do that work for you in which case you'll actually be adding another layer of complexity. Call me old school, but I've always written apps with the base framework. More control. Wow and you actually thought you were the only person who developed small projects during college? And please tell me why a 7 year old needs to write code to draw ? I thought MSPaint already did that! EDIT:Also, Let me take an XBox game example since Kodu is an MS tech: are you saying you can create a gears of war quality game with Kodu? No? I didn't think so either.. With enough man hours put in you can try to put a ladder to the moon, but thats not the point. Im talking production level quality in a given time constraint. Wow! Way to miss the point! Mr. Old school coder, my point was, it is freaking easy to write code in .Net. And if you disagree, you don't deserve to call yourself old school. Also, for the 7yr old topic, I said, you can use Kodu to write a full-fledge game, and believe it or not, it looks ten times better than Farmville. Now, MSPaint, that's a freaking paint tool, not a dev SDK. I hope, you being such an old school, know the difference between them. And who the f**k says you can use drag and drop, for gears of war. I was just saying, that design one game for xbox, and same game for other consoles, and see the difference. Or may be you are too old school to ever hear about the goodness of XNA framework. Xbox used to be lead platform for so many years because of easy access to intricate parts of xbox firmware. Also, connect to DB, join 2 tables, really. Is that the best, you can come up with? BTW, I can do that, without writing any code. Just an RDO object and a small SQL query will do that, with ease. But, again, you are too old school to use objects in Visual studio, right? anyways, not a code thread, this one, so let it be.

By Dragging and pooping in the VS IDE? without using the keyboard?) will do that, with ease. But, again, you are too old school to use objects in Visual studio, right? anyways, not a code thread, this one, so let it be. You had to go and turn this into a pissing contest. I was being objective in my discussion. Just to give you your reply: 1. Yes its "freaking" easy to code in the visual studio IDE, .net is the framework, visual studio is the IDE. See? I can piss farther than you. 2. Who the F brought up farmville here, if thats the standard you're aiming for, you dont deserve a reply. 3. My question still stands: Why would a 7 year old want to Drag and Drop stuff in the VS IDE to create graphics, if they could use MSPaint for it? 4. Xbox used to be lead platform for so many years because of easy access to intricate parts of xbox firmware. Xbox used to be lead platform for so many years Xbox used to be lead platform used to be And its WAY past its prime. 5. I already said you could do the table joins with the IDE in my reply. Don't know what you're being so anal about.. Reply to the device drivers part, still think you could do it? Call it what you will, but I choose to refrain from replying to you in this thread. You have already turned it into a clash of egos, and thats not a healthy turn for a thread thats already turned into a semi flamewar.

Also, dude, I replied to playstation tat coding is easy for xbox, after a cursory look at his post. Why did you came up here telling, "can you drag drop this", "can you drag drop that sh*t"? Who invited you to this ego clash, anyways? Pehle to keechad me ghusta, phir bolta ki kapde mat gande karo! Also, please refrain from replying to it, as I have seen enough of your dumb posts! As I can see that you are still keeping VS IDE in same league as MS Paint, calling your posts dumb is actually a compliment. @ambar YSDB!

Choron ka raja
which of my post made you think i questioned development part of xbox?? I saw OP and some BS about how "PSN is easier to work with, says Devs" and the source, that's why my first post was about xbox being a better dev platform. I guess, you are havin some trouble remembering things. Too much of Brala Croft's screenies?

Choron ka raja
Oh, and add to that, this dude has not even checked what is Kodu, about which I talked in my first post, and still goes so crazy about "code is everything".
devil_angel
The conversation has veered quite a way from the the title story. Rage is the first game I know of where a HDD install is needed on the X360 to play the game properly (Feel free to correct me). The same exception cannot be made in the case of the PS3 and that is the tradeoff Sony made by taking a huge leap of faith with Blu Ray technology. However all said and done, a couple of the best PS3 exclusives have delivered the goods without needing HDD installs. Forza 3 and now, Forza 4? Since you say playing a game properly, I assume it does not involve missing out tracks and cars

Irredeemable
I was expecting Rage to become ID Softwares next flagship franchise.. Looking at their past success with doom, quake.. Sad to see Destructoid said it was horrible with an open world illusion...

Irredeemable
http://www.develop-online.net/news/38820/PSN-twice-as-popular-as-XBLA-for-UK-devs Have fun, guys! Before anyone brings out the nukes, from the same article: The results could be skewed somewhat as Sony has five internal games studios in Britain, while Microsoft has two in full production. EDIT: Also, Ive seen articles about indie dev's releasing a lot of stuff on XBLA but PSN that seems to be lacking.. or is it the same ... I never really went looking for small games.. most of the stuff I purchase on PSN is DLC Packs...
Choron ka raja
http://www.develop-o...BLA-for-UK-devs Have fun, guys! Good read, but UK devs only! Next is what, PSN is popular with Indian devs more than XBLA. Call me xbot or whatever, but if someone asks you to promote sh*t games, you have to say no, and MS is doing exactly that. Although, in the process, they are losing all the exclusives and sh*t.
