SRINI87
Developer: GSC Game World Platform: Microsoft Windows,, Xbox 360 Release date: 2013 Genre: First-person shooter, survival horror ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Announced last August – just days before the start of the GamesCom 2010 – STALKER 2 has been relatively silent. Developer GSC Game World are out of their silence, however, to move some information through a series of questions and answers posted on Facebook dedicated to first person view action game set in 2012 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Stalker games have always relied on survival element and Stalker 2 just stays true to the formula, the developers have confirmed that it will indeed utilize those elements well. If you are a PC gamer and are worried that the console version will hurt the potential of the PC version then no need to feel that way. The developers said that the PC version will be the best one. Both the PC and the console version will feature the same assets but you would be able to do a lot more with the PC version as you have come to expect from the Stalker series and its will support Direct X 11. We all know the DX10 enhanced lighting was tremendous in the previous Stalker game, resulting in terrific looking skyboxes, we cant wait to see how it will look with DX11. The UI will not be changed for the PC version and it will indeed feature a seperate UI that utilizes the strengths of the PC platform. Console versions might get a different UI. They say, “Since we develop primarily on PC, you won’t see any compromises in the PC version. The key difference between the PC and console versions will be the beauty of graphics” (meaning PC will offer more of visual effects). Hopefully they will look at a few graphics mods that don’t take up much ram and optimize Stalker 2 well. Stalker fans will be happy to know that the game runs on a NEW ENGINE. We cant wait to know more about this and the improvements it contains and hopefully its not a buggy mess. We also know the AI was tremendous with animals fighting for food and all that, with the new engine there are a lot of possibilities now and developers did confirm that there will be new mutants in the game. We are excited to know what the story will be this time, the developers confirm it will have a new set of characters and will be set in the triangle of CNPP, the cities of Chernobyl and Chernobyl 2 (where the huge antenna is located). More X-labs and underground complexes will await you in Stalker 2. They also refused to give details on the story at this point, which is expected. Hopefully the developers will release full modding tools after the game releases, because it makes a good game, awesome. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q&A Q: What will be the biggest difference between S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and the previous games, if any? A: In brief, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will offer new story, new set characters (with some good old ones) and, of course, the new engine powering it. Q: Will there be more of a survival element to STALKER 2? A:Yes. Q:What features have been removed/compromised in the PC version due to the multiplatform release? A:Since we develop primarily on PC, you won't see any compromises in the PC version. The key difference between the PC and console versions will be the beauty of graphics (meaning PC will offer more of visual effects). Q:Will there be any new kinds of interaction with NPCs? A: How do you mean? It's difficult to answer this one. Q:Will Sidorovich be in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2? A:I will refrain from answering this one for now. Q:Will the faction wars return? A:No. Q:Will the interface (inventory, map, etc) on the pc version suffer (like other games have) by trying to cater for console systems? A: No, whatsoever. Q:Will there be any new mutants? A:Yes. Q:How many weapons will be in Stalker 2? A:It's difficult to give the quantitative figure at this point. Q:Which part of the zone will it take place? Or is it the zone at all? A:We'll be locating the game in the triangle of CNPP, the cities of Chernobyl and Chernobyl 2 (where the huge antenna is located). Q:Is Zone going to be a large single ? A:Let's postpone this question for now. Q:Will it support DX11? A:Yes. Q:Will we see more X-Labs and secret underground complexes? A:Yes. Q:Will GSC expand on the import-a-weapon feature introduced with Nimble, and allow players access to more varied and custom weapons from outside the Zone by importing them through specialist contacts? A:We have some interesting new ideas on this matter. Q:Will artifacts be something we can go out and transmute through Anomalies? A:No. However, the area of artifact application will expand. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Latest Info -they do not use military experts but visit military forums often to gather info about weapons. The game doesn't aim for complete realism. -TV series are postponed, a full-feature movie will be released first. -they don't outsorce much but some stuff is outsorced like animation for example. They do object physics in-house but have Havok licensed. -There will be Strelok -There is high chance that X360 version will be released but PS3 version is unlikely even though they have it running. It will depend on what state it will be in at the moment of release. -It was mostly their decision to cut content from SOC even though they are flattered by their fans blaming the publisher. But it wasn't the case, these areas just weren't up to snuff. -no Hollywod stuff, the focus is on authenticity (read atmosphere won't change much) -they are not that excited about special effects like motion blur. He said that stuff like that + narrow FOV could affect a cerebellum negatively so they will decide what effects will stay at the polishing phase. It's all about realism again. -they haven't decided yet if they ship with multiplayer or not but they want to make it special if they do. -the team is about 60 people -the game will look different but still realistic as it is their main focus. They want to build a good post-soviet atmosphere -they don't talk with Metro 2033 team (still seems bitter about their departure) -they will start releasing media in 6 months before the release. -they were building the engine for a year because "it would take a year to learn a licensed engine" so they decided to build their own engine to render post-soviet stuff in a proper fashion -the engine won't be licensed, it will be free. There are bigger companies that license their engine so they see no use in competing with them. -it's their bestselling game obviously and they have 65 books released. They are planning to send these numbers t Guiness as a longest fiction series for a videogame or something like that. -system requirements won't be low as they focus on graphics. -the game is out in 2012 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Art works Edited February 15, 2012 by SRINI87

MoonStruckHorrors
I almost made up my mind to create this thread when I saw the shitstorm regarding DRM on Official S.T.A.L.K.E.R. facebook page today. In this interview Sergei Grigorovich mentioned S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will require constant Internet connection to play. LINK GAMERU.NET: - What is the security system will be in STALKER 2? - Protection from piracy? Part of the content will be located on the server and downloaded as the game progresses. We need constant access to the Internet. Will finish the text information, code and maximum game. Software piracy hurts us to beat, we fight with him, but in moderation. If people can not buy a licensed version, it is to our advantage, so he bought a pirate, and then wanted to buy a license. In Ukraine, there are different products that people love so much that he buys a license in principle. We want to create just such a product. But after all the hate posts on their facebook wall, they posted this. I seriously hope they don't screw this up with DRM. Also, this thread is my new home! MoonStruckHorrors
Official S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The idea of implementing DRM came in as a possible anti-piracy solution. That said, there is no firm decision to go for DRM with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. We do realize how uncomfortable this solution is for the players, so we'll continue looking for most effective, yet acceptable (for everyone) way of protecting the game by the time of its release. MoonStruckHorrors
Another update. They're trying their best not to lose the loyal fanbase/fanatics. Stalkers we have not said we will be using DRM. Just that it was mentioned. We are looking at all options available to us to best suit you the community and us GSC. Please do not worry. I hope there are hot Russian chicks in S2. : Re-skinned Bloodsuckers with some additional abilities?

SRINI87
UPDATE: GSC director confirms cancellation. Apparently Grigorovich was unhappy with the progress Stalker 2 had made, and Ukranian law enforcement was interested in taking control of the company, but this is speculation on the part of UkraNews.
