sandys
Hi guys, Luv this community - especially how you guys pioneered the SOD self-repair. It gave me confidence to ask my colleague to bring in a US PS3 when he is down next week. Sorry if this topic has been asked ad nauseum , but there is no sticky on this. What are the first few things that you guys get for your PS3?? HDMI cables....remote control... voltage stabilizer (to prevent the SOD maybe)..even any software mods maybe. Given your experience, what would you suggest to a noob? In case you do have a list of things, that I should buy - it would be very helpful if you could recommend where to buy it from (or what brand for that matter) thanks guys. see you on PSN soon! Sameer
Buy 1. HDMI Cables. 2. Dual Shock 3 from PA. I think you should also buy the Clear Skins that prevents the PS3 from getting Scratches and may be dust caps. Search play-asia for these products. I suggest u to buy a 80GB or a 40GB one if u dont have a huge PS2 games collection. Buying a 40GB PS3 and a Modded PS2 will cost u the same amount as buying a 60GB one. I am selling a NTSC 60GB PS3 that i bought from USA. If u want to buy mine then see trading post.
sandys
Thank guys.. keep the suggestions coming. I'm actually planning on getting a LCD tv as well - have a CRT 29 in till now. I hope I can play on my CRT with my PS3 out-of-the-box. So probably I will be getting the HDMI cables then (any suggestion where to buy it from?) I have gotten COD4 - so I can play online. I plan to buy Orange Box .. simply cos its the game I loved most! I have already ordered the 40gb PS3.. so its already paid for. And of course Yellowdog Linux!! Hot-Drake-Pixel
games: Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Rachet and Clank TV: Go for HD or at least HD Ready. SD TV is an insult to PS3. believe me, I had to play all the games once again after I got LCD TV after few month from PS3 purchase. Movies: If you are into movies then with blu-ray on board, you should consider picking up few BLUs as well. Casino Royale, 300, Spider man trilogy, PoTC, Any disney animation. Pick according to ur taste. But without HD TV they are as good as DVDs. Accessories:Vertical stand with neon or, LCD back light,DS3 from play-asia.com(look below for the link), blu-ray remote(it will be more convenient for the ladies and parents in your household)

sandys
Thanks guys... I think it is inevitable. I will get a LCD TV (everyone tells me Sony Bravia... so probably Bravia it is). I already have a Linksys WRT54G - my bad luck that I got the ver 7.0 of it, which cant be modded to DD-WRT/Tomato firmware for better wireless performance. And I would like to add my question to all of you - any place that you can get a cheap HDMI -to -HDMI cable? thanks

On a contrary some of us might remember the X360 game sale which was the biggest confusion ever i have witnessed... But yes they sure are doing a great job and i think even Ezone is great...Though still they dont keep PS3 games...
lastAvenger
I like Croma and all but tbh its quite expensive when you compare the price of the electronics to other retailers outside. Everyone i know feels the same way
