There is a I dunno what they call it, a flexible rope thingie which the aircraft is supposed to hook on to in order to land. If the aircraft doesnt hook on in time, it will overshoot the runway on the battleship. Thats what you saw happening there, and the pilot pulled up. I think the troll face was edited in later.
