Hi Ankit,

This has surely been the most debatable topic for gamers. As far as im concerned, i reckon the PS3.

a) It has HDMI and HDCP, these are high definition features required to play high definition movies and games. although the xbox now also has HDMI outputs but PS3 has been giving hdmi for quite some long. High definition means 1080P, in case you are using a Standard TV then you must be using 576i and there is a lot of difference between the two.

B) PS3 has been giving PSN network for free through which you can download demos for free. (provided you have fast internet connection which can be used by the PS3)

c) I think the key is the games.. in case of PS3 there are selected exclusive titles like uncharted but what matters is the kinda games you like.i prefer the PS3 in this case...

As far as TV is concerned you need to buy a TV which supports 1080P, i think there are a selected LCD tvs which support ( i need to check on that)... Keeping you budget 15k in mind. Dont know any LED in that budget.

In case you wanna know about the tv please check the link below

i cannot say anything about Xbox but with PS3 i dont think there is any known problem. In case there is any problem with the console, i think they will first repair it in case it cannot be repaired then they would give you a 70% discount coupon ( for consoles in warranty period), for out of warranty console its 50% (for details look at the support policy for this forum)

its a personal choice, but at given point of time PS3 is a better bet, as 360 might just see a new model next year.

15k for a tv is a tough choice, maybe you can bump it up a bit and try to get a 26" full HD tv.

PS3 vs. Xbox. I went through the same earlier this year when I had to buy so I took advice of people who've owned both consoles. I ended up with the PS3 and I agree its been a good choice.

PS3 :

Controller has inbuilt battery, just plug and charge (charge works for many days)

BluRay player

BluRay discs are of higher quality and very tough to scratch

Exclusive titles are more in number and of great quality (UC, KZ, GOW, etc).

PSN is free, service is good so far not faced any issues of quality

Higher HDD capacity (at least 160GB models) than Xbox

Hard disk can be upgraded by using any regular laptop HDD, cheap to upgrade

Games cannot be installed on HDD

Controller shape is not liked by some.

1 year replacement warranty, service is not so good (takes time for replacement).

After 1 year, 30% or 50% discount on new console

PS3 ownership >> xbox in India, games reselling on IVG is much higher

Xbox

Controller batteries need to be replaced (can use rechargeable, but is extra hassle).

DVD player only

DVD discs are of lower quality (than BD) and easy to scratch

Exclusives are fewer and released with less frequency

XBL is paid service, is quite good. At par OR better than PSN maybe

Less HDD capacity (4GB usually)

HDD upgrade costly, only xbox specific hard disk has to be used

Games can be installed to HDD (not sure if all games)

Controller analog sticks are asymmetric. But controller shape is more comfortable (especially for bigger hands)

1 year replacement warranty (correct?), service is excellent (home pickup and delivery in few days)

After 1 year (Not sure about discount offer)

Xbox ownership << PS3 in India, games reselling on IVG is much lesser

There, that sums it up. You're welcome :) .

according to you for how much would i get a decent 26'' full HD tv on which i could enjoy gaming

I got a benq 24" lcd monitor for 18K a few months back. I think I paid the premium more for the ports rather than for the screen (the screen is good but I don't think it is IPS) - my monitor has 2 hdmi ports, vga port, dvi, 4 usb ports and support for component cable for watching tv.

You should focus on whether the monitor you want to buy has a hdmi port / any other port you want and then decide on the screen size.

are dell monitors compatible with ps3 as i have heard dell gives 3 year warranty and their after sales service is the best in india

their are a couple of LED dell monitors which come with HDMI

i don't know about dell's after sales service but dells monitor the are strong as rock (he buy rock i really don't mean you can throw them around and not expect them to breakgiggle.gif) and they are expensive like hell, on the other lg provide a value of money product whit an excellent after sales service. if you buying a ps3 go for a lg 3d monitor available at smc international for 16500 Rs see this
