.....and done. Finished the full 100% playthrough today and I'm so glad I did it. A re-play of this game made me appreciate the finer details that Rockstar had in this game.

My first play-through on the old gen consoles was admittedly rushed to complete the main campaign. However, I took my time with this one and went through most of the stuff that I could. I still have a few 'Strangers & Freaks' mission & a whole lot of random encounters to go, but the ones that I did complete were awesome. It baffles me that this game has so many random encounters with the NPCs in the world with different lines being spoken and all of them being quite different with very little repetition.

The visual quality on the PS4 was so dam good. I mean, I never really paid attention to the rain in this game until I saw the current gen versions effects. The water puddles that are created and textures that are affected by it looks unbelievably accurate. The water simulation in the ocean is absolutely mind boggling and very realistic. Also the textures were beefed up very well while holding a stable 30 frames. This also seems to be one of those game which seemed to give the illusion that the game wasn't actually being rendered at 30 frames but felt slightly higher. Rockstar really have come a long way with their game engine optimization.

Thank you all for your replies on the online part, however, it doesn't seem suitable to my taste in online gaming. So going to pass on it for now. May be another time? Who knows. ;)

Did you play on PC or ps4 ? Although I haven't played in PC, I heard it has 60fps. I can only imagine how awesome it would be !!

I played it on the PS4. I did try it briefly on the PC before when it released, but didn't get too far into it. The game looked spectacular on PC (which was obvious) and 60fps made it feel insanely smooth. But I have to say, Rockstar did a dam fine job tailoring it perfectly for the current gen consoles too. With the performance being stable & visual quality being retained, I'd say they nailed it with the optimization this time.

I can't even imagine how insanely gorgeous Red Dead Redemption 2 would be on this engine with similar optimization.

My only fear is that RDR might be more MP focused based on their recent success with GTA V online.

My concerns exactly. I really hope they don't. This is a company known to make quality single player content and with DLC's which are equally good (or better than the base game). This game, in all likelihood, would not get a story DLC, which is a real shame.

IIRC, they did have plans of SP DLC , I think they just shelved it in favor of MP packs :-/

@adity Absolutely true. Euphoria is actually the motion/physics animation engine which works in conjunction with Rockstar's RAGE engine on which this game was actually built. RAGE has evolved quite a lot and crafting a game ground up for the current generation hardware; the possibilities are endless. If you look at the face & body capture animations during the cutscenes in GTA V, they look amazing. Except Tracey's animation, which seems really off for some reason. Trevor's is probably the best.

Single player team is different. SP is handled by Housers @ Rockstar North .  Multiplayer studio is different for Gta online and RDR.

Rockstar owns around 10 studios worldwide including Rockstar India
