USB Mic or USB adapter attached Mic for PS3

I have connected my PS3 to a 2.1 Creative Speaker using the Optical cable, now i want to use the ingame chat in BF3 and want to buy a mic to be used in my PS3. The thing is that i want to get my audio output from my speakers and the Mic input through the USB mouse or the USB adapter in which the Mic can be attached.

Please let me know if this can be achieved, if so, let me know what setting i have to enable in my Ps3.

There is a dongle which can be used to convert 3.5 jack'd headphones into USB input. But I searched for it for a while, and had no luck finding it in Chennai. Maybe you'll have better luck than me. As far as voice output through speakers is concerned, I thin we can enable that in the settings.

Is this the one you are talking about ? So is it possible to just connect the mic to this device and make it work ?

Yup same one, many members have it in the forum. I wanna buy one as well. Let me know if you're buying, might buy one along with you :)

If it has a 3.5mm Microphone jack to plug into the adapter, it'll work. Else, it wont.

Im talking about this item

EDIT: read it wrong. Its a 3.5 mm microphone jack only my dear. Will the microphone work as well? Can anyone who has this product already confirm?

I don't think the mic will work then. This adapter is for headphones/earphones that come with two separate jacks each for audio and microphone.

I works bro I have been using it. just plug in the mic and change the input device to USB headfone and output to the sound system. that way you will be able to talk in the mic and hear your friends on the sound system

I have that adapter but the mic in never really works well. No matter what mic I try, I always have to talk very loudly for anyone to hear me.

I ended up buying a bluetooth headset though I would love to use a USB mic (no hassle of charging).

See, I dont have seperate pins for audio and mic on my HTC earphones. Can you confirm that even if I have a headphone with built in mic, which has only ONE 3.5 mm jack, this will work? Because if this adapter thingie has 2 slots, then what devil_angel said makes sense.

Your phone headset won't work as it has a single 3.5mm pin.

You can buy any regular headset with mic for this purpose (Flipkart has items from the ~Rs. 200 price range onwards).
