PS3 "Checking and restoring the file system" message.

I started up my PS3 just now and it is showing this message "Checking and restoring the file system". While that's in progress, I've done some quick Googling and found little information of use.

Apparently,

  • This is happening only after firmware 4.00 update.
  • It is supposed to happen after any kind of forced shutdown / hard reset.
  • It should not affect the saved data
  • It will check for presence of corrupted data on the hard drive.

I'll go back and see if it's completed and what are the effects if any. In the meantime, if any of you have seen this message then please post your experience.

Well, the good news is that no data was lost. Although wouldn't matter much as BF3 stats are on the cloud :gunsmilie:

But its a bit of a bother as I'm used to of switching on the PS3 while my monitor is still connected to the PC and then after some time I just switch the display input and jump into BF3. But if this restore screen gives a prompt I'll surely miss it. Reminds me of "press any key to cancel disk check" :P
