Solitaire
I've always been a bit of a class topper, but even otherwise, make sure u get the BEST marks u can on your boards. The 10th and 12th marksheets are something that you'll just HAVE to submit for bloody well every application throughout your educational life (even for higher degrees). Or atleast till u get a job. Even if you're applying for an internship they'll ask for your 12th and 10th marksheets (eg. when I contacted a prof at IIT for an internship). These days with so many people aiming high, you really need to have a 90% plus atleast. Edit: And i hate the turds who copy in the tests. Last thing we need when correction is already plenty biased. SchizoidFreud
I'm not trying to enter the IIM or the IIT, so I do not need 90%. I pretty much suck in every subject except English so theres no way I can get even an 80 no matter how hard I work now....the thing that sucks is that I don't want to study even though I know my boards are going. I just can't. It bores the f**k out of me. I'm going for Mass Comm. after 12th anyway. I got 71% in my 10th. EDIT: Sorry to hear that, Van. Buzz
OMG you guys have just made me relive all those horror days of my 12th. The type of depression I went through after my 12th results. It felt like my life has come to an end. You guys are just putting pressure on these poor chaps. Someone is suggesting that you really need 90% Best of luck to you all just be confident and dont put pressure on yourselves

In today's world no matter how awesome you are at doing something, you still need a good degree and sound educational stats backing you up. The boards come just twice in your life, sacrifice 2 years and you'll be home free. Sometimes the kinda performance u pull off in the boards (despite thinking you've done them bad) will surprise even you. No harm in trying. SchizoidFreud
Na, I've almost gotten admission at MDIS in Singapore. No fking way am I staying here. Need to get around 65% to 70%. That'll be enough. I don't see the point in studying something I do not like. My parents wanted me to follow their footsteps and take Science back in 10th. I'd probably be dead by now had I taken Science. So, they put me in commerce instead and now, they agree with me that I would have done a lot, LOT better in Arts coz it has every subject which I loved back in school. Not crying over split milk, just saying.
Noctis
No need to get tensed though, in the end these things aren't really in your hands. You could end up studying well and getting sick during the last exam to get screwed up like me.

You have answered your own doubt about "someone suggesting something" with the first emboldened line. Get excellent marks and then they won't have to be depressed. Simple as that. Never narrow down your line of sight and say "Oh I'm not gonna go to IIT so I don't need excellent marks". Cos you never know for what you'll need those marks when the time comes. No amount of regret will change your grade. Of course, if someone is filthy rich and can pay their way through the best universities then that's a wholly different story. I'd rather not make a comment on that.

I can study for 2 entire days for my accounts exam on Monday but the problem is, I WILL NOT be able to. Its coz I do not find any interest in it what so ever. The same thing happened back in 10th in Maths. I knew I had to study but I just couldn't only coz I do not have the slightest bit of interest in it. Its the same this time. I guess thats just me. I'm not exactly trying to enter for an IIT or IIM or whatever the fk it is. Neither am I going to go for the CAT exam (or whatever Van was talking about)....getting 90% is out of the question. The maximum I can try for is 80 and even, I'm sure I wont be able to go past 75.
Death Stryke
@at your decision to go to MDIS for mass comm ^Good decision. I really encourage my young cousins to take up Arts now for subjects they like and find genuine interest in, even if career and monetary prospects aren't that great as compared to the "IT" industry. A lot of creative writers, musicions, speakers etc get pressurized by family n friends to take up the beaten to death Engg path which I completely detest as for 95% of students its just 4 years waste of your life and any engg ends up sitting in front of a computer writing code. No offence to IT and people who genuinely love writing code.
Phoenix Wright
I don't see the point in studying something I do not like. This. I wonder when the higher-ups are going to realize that developing skill sets is more important than imparting the sort of knowledge that our so called "system" does. The kind of pressure people put on kids taking these shitty, totally useless exams staggers me. It's ridiculous.

You could end up studying well and getting sick during the last exam to get screwed up like me. Na, not tensed up. Its not like the system is completely awesome. The marking is random as f**k. I still do not know I ended up getting 70 in Hindi back in 10th. Maybe it was the hard work I put in or maybe I just got lucky. I don't really know and tbh, I don't exactly care either. Its all behind me now. I do not know how important the board marks here are but when I was applying for MDIS, they just wanted to know how much I had scored in English in 10th. I got a nice 82 so I did not have to appear for the IELTS. They did not even bother asking for the rest of the stuff. +100 Some parents force their child to do something which they are not good at. Some people just can't see beyond IIT and IIMs My parents did not exactly force me to take Commerce, they were just worried about my future and it is not something I can blame them for. I would have been in Arts right now if there was a single fking Student councillor here. After talking to the councillors in Kolkata, all of them told me that I would have been a lot better in Arts compared to commerce and Mass Comm. is basically everything you get to do in Arts. The thing that sucks the most is that, I would have easily got around 80 to 85 had I been in arts. Right now, I do not even think I'll get a 70. I'd rather not make a comment on that. Dude that is the problem. People think that marks are everything, but tell you what it is not. Even after such a poor result in 12th I am at a better position in life than my fellow school toppers right now. I am not saying that you shouldn't get good marks in boards but putting undue pressure on yourselves is also not right. You may think differently since you are a topper yourselves but people do have some limitations.
