VelivolusDas
And here I was, thinking someone bought the game on their Vita since it released recently.
Aftrunner
So playing the GOTY edition. How the chuffing hell do you deal with the mind control aliens. I havent discovered anything that counters it. And the f**kers can control you through cover or not.
ScrewyAurum
it is dependent on the will of the caster and the affected unit, ignoring all other things like cover, elevation or distance (though does need line of sight to cast). The best counter is to kill the caster, a preventive measure is to send in soldiers with high will (or psi operatives) another way to mitigate damage is to disable the mind controlled unit till the 4 turns are over. Aftrunner
Hmmm I will have to check the Will stat for my units but I am guessing it wont be great. Killing them before the mind controlled unit starts doing damage is difficult depending on how you encounter them. And I have no disabling items for mind controlled units. My problem is I am doing pretty well on the micro part of the game (the actual missions). The macro part is just me doing random research and random construction till the story demands I do something. I am just flailing in the dark there. Aftrunner
Doing a little better now, can go through most missions with only minor injuries to 1-2 squadmates. I think the early-mid game curve is pretty steep. Once you get past that, you get a little room to make mistakes. Still not a lot though, even small f**k ups are usually brutally punished. I dunno if its me or not but normal is pretty brutal. I am not great at turn based games but I am not a total scrub at them either. This one is on the more difficult end of the spectrum. Nothing else makes you rage like a unit missing a high % shot.
Aftrunner
Finished it. What a fun ride. And the expansion adds a ton to the base game. By the end my, mech units were straight up murdering fools left right and centre. Gene augmentation wasnt that useful though IMO. Lasted me a good 40+ hours too. I kinda wish the game didnt emphasise the macro base building as much as it did. It was the weakest part of the game and really very unintuitive. You could do an amazing job at the turn based combat and still end up eating sh*t cause you f**ked up the base building (which wasnt fun anyway). Gonna move onwards to Xcom 2. Hopefully that game pulls back on the macro stuff and focuses more on the combat. Oh and one fantastic thing. The game has cloud saves and they are cross platform. I would play at my home on my Win 10 gaming PC and then pick it up right where I left it on my work Mac Mini. I absolutely didnt expect that. That is f**king brilliant. Good job Firaxis.
