Project Gotham Racing 5 & GRID 2 Coming?

Alan Boiston of VVV Gamer has picked on something really interesting in his newest news video (see below) as two major racing game franchises are due to make a return this year.

According to MCV magazine, Project Gotham Racing 5 is planned to be shown off at this years’ E3 expo. The first-ever Project Gotham Racing was a launch title for the original Xbox back in 2001 and with the third Xbox to make its debut at E3 as well, a new PGR title would be the perfect fit.

Following the release of Project Gotham Racing 4 in 2007, the franchise was discontinued with the exception of one mobile title as the developing studio Bizarre Creations was bought by Activision and closed in 2011. That means that a new PGR title will have to be developed by a new studio, back in 2009 Microsoft was said to be on the lookout for a new studio but PGR5 was never mentioned again until now.

Another title to make a return is GRID as Codemasters are apparently planning on a successor for the original title that was released back in the summer of 2008. Since then, Codemasters have very much focused on making the most of their Formula One license as well as the DiRT franchise, GRID 2 is rumored to be first shown on the E3 as well with the release possibly planned for 2013.

PGR 5 \m/ fuk yeah , i really am psyched about this i hope it gets released for X360 Too since PGR Never pushed this gens graphics to the limits & a new PGR For the x360 will be a awesome farewell gift , i just hope the racing is more like PGR 3 Than 4 , 4 was way too difficult to pick up for a arcade racer like me , i prefer the simpler controls of NFS Shift & PGR 3

PGR <3

That's from PGR4...lol

Anyways I love PGR, I remember I was trying very seriously for the World Cyber Games Indian trials for PGR4 in 2009, and then I came to know that they removed the friggin game from the Indian trials later. I was practicing day and night and I even broke into the top 100 in the time trial tour for the track Trafalgar Tour, and practiced right alongside the clan members of HFD (One of the guys fromt eh clan HFD GreenJumper was the runner up in WCG for PGR the year before).

Also PGR without Bizzare creations would be...I donno Bizzare maybe?

I guess Turn 10 is the only studio that can recreate the experience.

Hope they'll use previous PGR assets and not their own engine, don't want to play a PGR without weather, day/night cycle and city tracks :giggle:

They wont remove :)

It seems MS plans to release one racing game each year alternating FM and PGR

FM more of a sim

PGR more of a arcade with weather effects , day night cycles

PGR5 without this effects will be more like that of FM :P

There is already 2nd team at Turn 10 for PGR5 . . When sounds of cars were recorded for FM4 , one of the developer said in a interview that the same sound is being is used in PGR5 too . . Lolz :P

:nono:

Maserati 250F. Nurburgring. Snow. 'nuff said.

They'll probably create a second team at Turn 10 for this.

And yay for Grid 2 :D

Yeah, PGR 4 certainly had its high points....but for some reason, I like PGR3 more than PGR4. That doesn't mean I hate PGR4. Here's the analogy: I like Rachel Weisz more than Keira Knightley :P

One of my favourite racers. PGR 4 was my first online game in XBL. :fear:

Seriously?

If they lock it at 30fps like PGR4 was, they have no excuse not to include all that.

Ya, well. I like Keira Knightley more (in this terrible analogy :P).
