Maximus
Hi! I am looking for a laptop basically for every day purposes (home) since I am shifting jobs and the new company have a very strong restriction policy. Have zeroed down on the below mentioned specs with a budget of around 35 - 40k. 4GB RAM i3 or i5 2.33 ghz or above 15" -17" screen 500gb hard disk Blu ray Drive would be cool too Please send in as many options as possible along with any personal experiences wherever applicable. Also, am looking for 1 TB external HDD that can be connected to my PS3 for media playback.

Maximus
Thanks bro. Great laptop options, really inclined towards the Dell one. Another query, can a PS3 recognise a 3.0 usb hdd. And is there a difference between a 3.5" and a 2.5" hdd apart from size. Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
GamingAssassin
Thanks bro. Great laptop options, really inclined towards the Dell one. Another query, can a PS3 recognise a 3.0 usb hdd. And is there a difference between a 3.5" and a 2.5" hdd apart from size. Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk The only difference apart from size is that 3.5 has 5 platters so lower density. If you want your PS3 to recognize USB 3.0, you need to replace the USB hardware on the PS3 motherboard with USB 3.0 hardware. USB 3.0 is the speed at which the USB ports can transfer information. USB 2.0 is faster than USB, and USB 3.0 is faster than USB 2.0 and USB. The speed of the USB port (USB 3.0) has nothing to do with the HDD connecting. Since the PS3 only has USB 2.0, data will only transfer at 2.0 speeds, it won't use the 3.0 capability the HDD has. If the HDD won't connect, there is something wrong with the setup of the HDD (make sure its in FAT32 in order for the PS3 to recognize it). If you get the HDD preformatted as NTFS format it into FAT 32 using Partition Magic.
