Suggestion for low-end MP3 Players

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am looking to buy an mp3 player for an acqaintence of mine. Range is anything below or near 4k mark.

My main selection criterias are Sound quality, capacity and ease of use. Rest all shenanigans are optional (even screen).

Apple ipod shuffle/nano are ruled out because transferring music to them is not a breeze for a person who can barely manage to make his way to a folder where muisic is stored :)

I looked at few models of Philips and sony but i have been out of this scene for quite sometime and not really sure of which ones are worth thier salt.

Any guidance/suggestions of models will be highly appreciated.

Regards...

I browsed various forums and sansa sounds like the one to go. i am interested in Clip Zip model but not able to find a place to buy it (apart from ebay).

Anyone know a dealer with whom i can strike a deal of sansa + headphones?

Call me stupid, but I always thought sound quality depended on the earphones/headphones rather than the player.

Agreed!! hence looking for a dealer which can ship both.

And I hope PMPs are indeed dead 'se buying a new one may turn out to be muich cheaper :)

Ill have a non branded chinese PMP which I bought on my tour in Delhi. Can play MP3, video, and snes games. The screens cover is gone though, the screen is without scratches.

lol what ? which headphones do you want ? Check if the device will be able to drive them ..

The audio quality depends a LOT on the AMP/DAC you use , though the headphones also matter ..

i would say 70% on headphone 30% on source ..

newer iPods suck as the old ones had wolfman DACs which were epic , but the new ones use some cheap a*s ones ( Post iphone 3G , iPod Touch 2nd gen ) , iPod shuffle always sucked ..

I had super-bad experience with lynx, that too while trading face-to-face in college days, online is a different story altogether. I have PM'ed pristinenote on other forums, still awaiting their response.

Regarding headphones, I just need an in-ear model of decent quality (Even SoundMagic will do). I read no-so-great reviews of the oem sansa headphones hence looking for one.

Rest assured i know the differnce of what an AMP/DAC can do (have owned nuforce uDac in past and currently have an E5 lying around :)), its just that the my requirement is a decent in-ear headphone.
