This is because in India we get a replacement instead of the same console repaired. They probably send out a boilerplate email to everybody.

What is the policy of Microsoft reagarding non RROD issues(I have serious DVD issues) in India?I don't live in one of the metros so the replacement occurs few days after the courier guy takes away the console.Hence I can't tell them that I have a RROD.What should I do

Update !!Just clarified the issue with M$ customer care services. You will get a replacement warranty for non-RROD issues after one year of purchase. That is until they set up a repair center in India.Heck they even said we will replace your console even it is more than 3 years old.Hope that Microsoft has no future plans for a repair center here :bash:

And how much will the replacement warranty cost us?

Here's my latest experience. It was annoying and pleasant at the same time. Annoying because I had two hardware failures in two weeks, and pleasant because of the excellent customer support

My PSU went dead and therefore required an exchange. My console is over three years old so even the RRoD warranty has expired. They still offered to replace it without me having to ask for it. I got the new power brick within three days, but when I plugged it in and switched it on, I had the RRoD. It was Saturday so I couldn't call customer support. I did on Monday and they agreed to replace the console as well (even though its out of warranty). I got the replacement console today (5 days later).

So in short, they replaced my power brick and my console within two weeks even though my 3-year RRoD warranty has expired. The frustration of not being able to play Forza 3 was reduced greatly by the helpful customer support (and by PES 2010 that showed up in the interim)

The only downer in the whole thing is the fact that I got a 2006 console as replacement. Forget Jaspers and HDMI, this thing breathes fire out of the back and is annoyingly loud. Louder than my earlier console, which was manufactured in 2007.

peace

Wow that's cool. This is the last month of my console's warranty. So far it's running fine .. but do you think I should still get it replaced? My 360 hung two times in between .. but only during NFS Shift (now I donno if it's early sign of rrod or just some problem with NFS) but you think it would be wise to get a replacement anyway?

And by the way, I am really surprised they gave you a replacement power brick. Few months back when I got rrod, I first thought that my power brick was gone. But I didn't bother asking for replacement coz I knew they only offer 1 year warranty on accessories. So very cool that you got it replaced.

As for me .. I was pretty happy the way they'd replaced my console (in 3 days) but was pissed when they banned my gt (because of the CC issues back then) and they offered 1 yr free XBL membership as compensation .. but later I got my account reinstated (as was everyone's) and luckily won the free 1 yr xbl subscription from dr.slave. : P

But all in all, MS is doing good.

I think they're replacing it for everyone with expired warranty, and not on a case-by-case basis. They said that this is the policy until they come up with a concrete post warranty support plan, which will probably be a paid extended warranty.

Although they said that this is a one-time replacement, so I'm hoping they have their plan in place before the next time the console dies.

peace
