bossplaya
Warrenty seal is checked at the repair center and not by the courier guy. Also, the seal is electronically scanned for any kind of tampering instead of being checked manually by the naked eye. but if somebody already got a new console in exchange, how does it matter even if MS knows that the console is modded once its in the repair shop? ctrl_alt_del
I think a replacement console will be dispatched only AFTER the previous console has been checked against tampering.
HundredProofSam
^^ not really....AFAIK no checking is done in india....they dont open the console here.....it goes straight to australia peace
ctrl_alt_del
You could be right. But how difficult it will be to snap open the case with specialised tools, swipe and electronic scanner on the hologram and you know if has been tamepred with or not. Shouldn't take more then 10 mins and could be done by anyone.

ctrl_alt_del
It's immaterial whether its Sony or MS. It makes business sense, especially when one knows that Xbox 360 can be cracked. Also, considering it's MS, there are more chances of it going for the checks then none.
Keyofx
I think a replacement console will be dispatched only AFTER the previous console has been checked against tampering. Not true. I had to have mine replaced a couple of months back. The courier chap brought the replacement with him and took the RROD'd mofo back to wherever it is consoles go when they die (err, Australia?). All in one trip. No hassles.
lastAvenger
this is MS we talk about.... What Ctrl-alt-Del is saying is correct. Earlier naked eyes was used to check the seal but these days electronic devices are being used to check the hologram seal. Its not that easy anymore to fool Microsoft and get a console replaced. Also only out of region consoles go to Australia, the rest of them go either to China or somewhere local. I have a feeling it goes to local even though the tech is somewhere in Asia
killeramit
I also got the Rrod and i mailed the dead one and they fixed it and mailed it back the next day . so my experience with MS was 5 stars.
gonekrazy3000
I had my console replaced a year ago (my dvd drive stopped reading dvds). The courier guy just handed me the new console and took the old one. he didnt even check the seal lol. Hell..... they replaced my console within 3 hrs of me calling them D= (called them at 1:30 PM. Had the new console between 4:30-5:00 Pm same day) So for me the Service has been stellar even all my interactions with the call centre over the last 1.5 years were pretty normal. I always got people that had normal accents on the line lol. Even cancelling my older American Xlive account took just 1 call.

Their service in terms of replacements might have degraded a lot since then. For all i know i might have been one of the lucky ones....
