Arcade stick buying advice

Importing is your only option, unless you find someone who wants to sell.... you might as well spend 6-7k and import a high grade stick .... the low ones are like 3-4k or something , better to spend a little more for that...

Hey Ankit.. what are the games you play.

I would advise going for Hori Arcade Pro V3SA if you have a friend in the US. It's simply amazing. You can get it for around 6 to 7k from there (or check the TP.. saw someone trying to sell his stuff).

Now here are some things you need to know..

Button layout.

Many pros go for 6 button layout instead of 8. That is partly a matter of choice. However, if you are new to gaming, go for the 8 button layout. You can always deactivate them and train ur brain to ignore them if you need to.

Special editions

Once in a while, you will come across some special editions such as the "Limited Edition `Femme Fatale` Street Fighter™ IV Arcade FightStick: Tournament Edition for PS3" blah blah. Sometimes they come costly. What they are, are just plain old arcade sticks, pimped up.

Campucious says.... Beauty is only sticker deep :P Jokes apart, shop smart. Functionality over pimps.

Weight.

You'll frequently come across fanboys and bigwigs yelling about how their stick is the largest and heaviest and funnest.. I am not sure if our blog is sponsored by Mad Catz.. so don't take this the wrong way. They are pretty darn costly. And that is just because they sell themselves by their weight. Trust me, unless you are the Incredible Hulk playing on ur console, where in, every twist of the stick throws your controller into Einsteins mc^2 paradigm, weight does not matter. Buy some sticky tape if you are worried.. What matters however, is what follows..

TE vs. SE

Tournament edition vs Standard edition.

Again, just a matter of weight and difference of button part materials.. read ahead.

SANWA

OK, get ready to be smothered by this term. Learn it. Research it. And the next time you here arcade, yell out at the top of your lungs SANWA. Presto.. you are now a hard core fighter. You'd make Rocky cry like a little girl. Yeah.. I get carried away at times. So back to SANWA. Anything that has Sanwa buttons, is a worthy stick. One of the best is the HORI brand sticks. Search them out.

The joystick

Battop Balltop.. Two types, but believe me, all u need to know is ball top. Bat top is for those with the dexterity of a guy who plays a lot with his joystick.. Enough said, it again is a matter of personal opinion. But I know the difference because I used the two. and ball top is meant for smaller hands (not teasing, asians really do have slender hands compared to the west)

OK.. so that's most of what matters.. Now, assuming you are new to fight games. If you have a couple thousands to spare.. check this out http://www.landmarkonthenet.com/nitho-multi-arcade-stick-gaming-8033389551018-3642236/

Not the best. But well. it's the cheapest and it works..
