That much has been confirmed. According to a Joystiq tipster, this includes “approximately 20-30 people from all disciplines, including one person who started yesterday, as well as one who started last week.” The layoffs appear to have impacted the company in a number of ways. First, it looks like the studio has cancelled “a future next-gen project”. The firings have affected the South Park RPG team, too.
