A seven-year-old boy was at the center of a Bangalore courtroom drama yesterday:

When he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible.

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him. After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

North Korean and Chinese media were at loggerheads Thursday after Pyongyang's official news agency issued a rare and stinging denunciation of its chief ally and diplomatic backer.

Beijing should be grateful to Pyongyang for its protection, said a bylined commentary carried by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), warning of "grave consequences" if China tests its patience further.

China's Global Times newspaper retorted that the nuclear-armed North was in the grip of "some form of irrational logic" over its weapons programmes.

'Can you help me marry my girlfriend, Modi ji?'

CHANDIGARH: A city based mechanical engineering student has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to help him get married to his girlfriend, who works as a nurse. He has requested the Prime Minster to send a volunteer to Chandigarh to convince parents on both sides to agree to the marriage. No, this isn't a silly joke. It is just one of many such frivolous requests from Chandigarh that are sent to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) through the centralized public grievance redress and monitoring system every day.

Indian Lady at Immigration counter in NY airport.

Officer: Pls write your husband's full name in the form.

Lady: But his name - MADANLAL DARSHANLAL CHAUDHARY - is too long to fit in this small space. What should I do?

Officer: Ok just put his initials.

Lady writes: Ma Dar Chaud.

Seem decent, especially for $15. But seriously, the smell coming off these things is indescribable. Like fertilizer and cat pee mixed and then lit on fire.
