The Evil Within / Pyscho Break

Yea, that's fair but debatable. If the size of the market remained the same, software sales wouldn't be dropping as they are, and movement to other genres would be reflected in numbers. Unfortunately you have big ticket games like CoD and Titanfall struggling to sell as much as they used to as well.

Maybe genres are struggling to stay relevant because the market has shrunk and there's less of an audience, and more popular genres like FPSes are only selling relatively better. Not sure the genres themselves are at fault because lower budget indie takes on TBS and P&C adventure games seem to do okay.

French review: 4/5. Very good.

WE LOVE

  • It should not have been that RE5, right?
  • Moods and incredible atmospheres.
  • Some passages extremely beautiful.
  • Mechanical interesting fight.
  • Several fights anthology boss!
WE DO NOT LIKE
  • Gameplay a little too old school and imprecise. DSbJeDF.gif
  • Mismanaged in tight spaces camera.
  • Some bugs bizarre collision.
  • Frequent loading times and a bit too long.
  • The "die and retry" frustrating.
  • VF sawtooth, no English voices.
The Evil Within Is it a worthy successor to Resident Evil 4 ? Yes, without a doubt. It becomes a must have game for all fans of survival horror? Sometimes twice a day! Is it the best title like that? Probably not, as it may be frustrating and cruel at times, mainly because of playability that vagueness and lack of a difficulty exacerbated voluntarily. However, we constantly want to come back as the breathless adventure, careful staging, the unhealthy atmosphere, the subtleties of many combat, or devious puzzles, are seductive. Small black dot on the end, however, clashes with some really, but really, difficult. Noted finally that we had a slight bug when boss has completely stopped fighting, proving that The Evil Within also lacks a zest finish. But apart from that, there was a long game did not put me such a slap in the genre, that clear!

A New Game + with new weapons (rifle, rocket launcher) in the main adventure.
You're going to eat the endless corridor, believe me.
Expect a little less than twenty hours to defeat The Evil Within.
Some enemies are blocked by the edges. It's rare but it breaks a little ambiance.
The difficulty is sometimes such that when a boss drops you launch a cry of victory.

48 hours more. :wOOtjumpy:

The Evil Within was 'so terrifying he had to turn it off!' says Sony Employee

The Evil Within is going to be scary, we already know that, but just how terrifying will it be?

Well, judging by Sony’s latest comments on its weekly blogcast, we have reason to be very afraid of Shinji Mikami latest project. SCEA Social Media Specialist, Ryan Clements, says that his co-worker was so scared he had to switch it off.

Speaking on the blogcast with host Sid Shuman, the pair talked about the game’s imminent release on PS3 and PS4 next week when Ryan said: “Here’s some early buzz from a fellow co-worker. The game was so terrifying he had to turn it off after 20 minutes!”

There's a distinct possibility that studios have misjudged the size of the market. And that movement to other genres can't be tracked because possible cannibalisation comes in the form of F2P titles such as DOTA2/LOL or subscription based affairs like FF14ARR/WoW. You can't funnel consumers when the choice is immense. It's an amusing time period. On one hand COD/Titanfall aren't doing the numbers they should be and on the other, casual kings like Rovio are facing massive lay-offs.

Yea, looks like monetizing isn't as easy as everyone thought :D And where the hell did the 'gamers' go if not mobile? So many questions

Unrelated, but I was reading on Kotaku the other day that even YouTubers are finding the going tough.

Ohmwrecker concurred, further explaining: "We've seen things like our monetized views, [cost per thousand views], etc shrink year after year. More people are watching videos via their mobile, tablets, or even their new consoles. That, or they are running Adblock when they browse YouTube, or are in regions where advertisements aren't targeted, leading to a situation where we're lucky if our channel growth offsets the ongoing declines.

"When I first made the jump to YouTube in 2012 I saw a little over half of my views go monetized, whereas today in 2014 it's around 34%. As you can imagine it is pretty alarming. For some YouTubers, occasional brand deals are just another way to try to offset the situation.

Game is very gandfadu and tense. So strictly for horror fans. I loved it the 15-20 minutes I played it on 360 and immediately pre-ordered it on PC because Mikami games always deserve money. Oh and the game looks like sh*t on last gen, textue pop ups, poor aliasing, uneven fps, you name it. Last gen IS DEAD AND BURIED. RIP.

The "die and retry" frustrating.

It totally depends on player. If it anything like Dark Souls level, I'll LOVE IT!

And yes, game is unlocking 12 hours early in Europe. :D
