The Elder Scrolls Online now up for pre-order in India

PC gamers in India can now pre-order The Elder Scrolls Online from Downloads4u, a subsidiary of retailer Game4u. The game is available in two variants – an Imperial Edition that will set you back by Rs. 5,999, and a standard edition priced at Rs. 4,499. Besides the rather hefty price tag, we’d like to remind you that since this game is an MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online), and not a single player RPG like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, there will be a monthly subscription fee attached to it as well. The first month is free, but after that, you’ll have to shell out $14.99 (Rs. 938) per month to continue playing.

Subscription fee was announced long ago. -_-

Edit: Also for that price, only idiot will buy. You can get standard edition for quite cheap from GMG. $44 ~ 2755 INR. Massive fail price tag for digital copy.

why the hell are they charging $15 a month just to play on top of the retail price? This is new to me... does any other game actually do this? I mean i understand a subscription based model but then why charge $60 for game on top of it? This is new to me.

It's not new to MMO games. Some have less fee, some charge less for base game.

World of Warcraft - Launch price: $50 for Vanilla, TBC - $35, WotLK - $40, Cata - $40 + $15 monthly. Extra price for pets ($10), mounts ($25), helms ($15) etc.

Final Fantasy XIV - $30 for standard, $60 for collector's edition + $15 monthly.

The Secret World - $30 + $15 monthly (now removed).

Star Wars: The Old Republic - $15 + 15 monthly (now removed).

Eve Online

WildStar

....

Now, Elder Scrolls Online.

If it's good, it'll continue to have monthly fee. If it fails, it'll go P2W/B2P/F2P.
