Rumour: Internet Explorer Coming to Xbox 360

Recommended Posts

Microsoft's multi-media console is purportedly expanding its offerings once again, this time by adding Internet Explorer to the Xbox 360.

Sources have told the Verge that a modified version of the browser will include Kinect functionality, allowing voice initiated navigation through the console's Bing integration, as well as motion-based gesture commands, although Kinect will not be required for use.

In addition to adding another feature to Xbox Live, the inclusion of a web browser will create a closer resemblance between the company's console experience and Windows 8, which could be a useful tool to increase adoption for the upcoming PC and tablet operating system.

A roll out date for the service has not been specified, although E3 would be an opportune time for Microsoft to make such an announcement.

Heck if polio shots came with IE free, we'd all be crippled.

Also, if IE comes on 360, it will be of no use unless Chrome or Firefox or Opera supports 360. Because we all use IE for one purpose, to download Chrome or Firefox or Opera.

IE 9 is much better than Mozilla ..

Better than Chrome is debatable

IE 10 on Windows 8 is awesome .. Hope MS bring IE 10 instead of 9

Really? I will try that as you will say that for any Microsoft product. Let me see if they have finally got it right after 9 versions.

IE 9 is much much better than IE 8 and is highly optimised (starts instantly like Chrome )

Has better add on support too

Mozilla has just degraded compared to it's predecessors

It's just not a coincidence that marketshare of Mozilla is decreasing and IE is gaining the marketshare which it lost a couple of it years back

IE aint ideal but its better than no browser or a shitty one. In a perfect situation they would have an Android like marketplace where you can pick your own browser. Fat chance of that happening though with MS's hard on for shoving IE down people's throats.

Having said that IE 9 is not bad. Not half as good as Chrome or Opera but its alright.

:batman:

batman & coffeeman, also ps3 browser is quite good

If you have literally never used a PC or a browser then maybe its...nope, it would still be a POS.

@Afty - The competition for Xbox 360 browser is PS3 browser

Even if Microsoft puts a decade old IE6 it will be better than the PS3 browser

Anyways who on earth is gonna use the browser when Smartphones have browser (even they don't have flash)
