This guy wants $500 to review Max Payne 3

Recommended Posts

Doesnt the 500$ go towards production costs like filming, editing etc? That sounds a reasonable amount for professionally producing a 15-20 minute video.

It might not be useful to anyone or he might very well be an incompetent game reviewer. However asking money which goes towards producing the video, is different from asking the money as a payment for doing the review.

Sensible post. Good man.

And before we start throwing homophobic slurs around again, I do agree that his little project is (mostly) without merit.

@ganeshran $500 is not normal for a professional shoot. It would actually cost a lot more, maybe 50,000 or upwards. So why is he only asking for rs. 20,000? Also he says he needs to pay the anchor but he seems to be doing the presenting so does that mean he's trying to get paid? And finally he says he needs to pay the lounge but as someone who's been in the media for nearly a decade I can tell you gaming lounges/shops are very pro-active when it comes to shooting on their premises. Not only will they not charge you but they'll go out of their way to help since they're getting free publicity in the bargain.

Why bother, not that he is putting gun to your head and asking the money.

Besides stakes here arent that high, Republique got $550K through kickstarter 50K more than they needed, what is the guarantee that game will get made and wouldn't suck a*s?

Good th at gamespot doesn't ask for $$$ s to watch their reviews.

He is asking us to pay him to make a product and then consume it for free ! I wonder if a guy shows up at my house and says, " Sir, hum log sabun banate hain, please pay us Rs500/- and we will make the best sabun, Chamko sabun, in the world and give it for free to everybody ! Hamara khub naam hoga, aapka sare aam c****** katega ! Sab hasenge , khoob maja aayega ! Sirji, paise dedo, jab log sabun malenge to aapka naam jhaag se likha jayega ! "

Add to that from his twitter account we can see he is into teaching VFX, so all his editing will be done by himself or by his students. Shooting at cafe is for free. Is a mutual benefit. You just have to ask properly. We made an ipad game and went to different malls in B'lore which had iPads on dislpay and asked them to please download our game on the ipads and let people play it. They were more than happy to do it as they thought it would make th eipads more pleasing to buy. The only thing left is camera to shoot his face, you don't need that for a review. You can review very well by not shwoign ur damn face. He is just trying to ride the kickstater wave and make 25k , thats all.We can't stop him, per se. The website allows u to ask for money for ur projects and he is doing just that. The fact that the same project can be done very well without these expenses is another story.
