EU PSN Store Gets Steam-like “Pre-Order” Functionality

Whilst technically there’s no risk in waiting to buy a digital game when it comes out, SCEE have added a feature to the PSN Store today that allows users to “pre-order” a download.

 

Sorcery is the first game to offer this functionality – you can pay for the game now, download it, and then next week it’ll just magically (pun intended) unlock, letting you play the game

 

When will I be able to use my pre-order?

You will be able to use your pre-order from the release date.

 

When will I be charged for my pre-order?

You will be charged two days before the expected release date. However, this may vary from product to product. Please refer to your pre-order confirmation email for details.

 

What happens if I have insufficient funds in my Sony Entertainment Network wallet?

If you have insufficient funds in your wallet but have Automatic Funding enabled, we will charge your nominated credit card. If you do not have Automatic Funding enabled, and have insufficient funds on the expected payment date, your pre-order will be cancelled. If you do not wish to use Automatic Funding please make sure you have sufficient funds to cover the cost of your pre-order in your Sony Entertainment Network wallet on the payment date.

 

When can I cancel my pre-order?

You may cancel your pre-order via Account Management up to but not including the date that payment is taken from your wallet. Once payment has been taken from your wallet, you may cancel your pre-order up to but not including the release date and will receive a refund of the purchase price to your wallet. You are not entitled to cancel your pre-order on or after the release date. To request a cancellation, contact Customer Support at eu.playstation.com/contact your local customer service centre. When will my pre-order begin downloading?

If auto-download is enabled, your pre-order will start downloading on the expected download date. If you have disabled auto-download, you will need to manually download your pre-order.

 

Does auto-download require my system to be switched on (green light)?

No. Auto-download will automatically switch your system on from Standby Mode (red light) and begin downloading your pre-order. So you are not disturbed while using your system, auto-download will not start if your system is already on (green light). Auto-download will commence the next time your system is switched to Standby Mode (red light).

 

Auto-download failed; how do I download my pre-order?

In the unlikely event auto-download fails to download your pre-order, you will need to download it manually.
