'Pranay Posted June 23, 2012 Report Share Posted June 23, 2012 spain where even more boring during the last world cup.. they won most of their matches 1-0 thanks in large to david villa and where putting everyone to sleep with their passing..scoring against spain is much more difficult than containing them. barcelona also play the same way with messi playing the false 9 role but they have more cutting edge to them because of messi's dribbling runs..spain doesn't have that. Spain has it but they dont want to risk it. Barca and Spain are totally different imo, atleast barca play with 3 strikers and have the best attacking right back as well. rajprdp Posted June 23, 2012 Report Share Posted June 23, 2012 spains defence- They push opponents into their half with slow build up and now when the opponents get the ball they have the entire midfield of spain waiting to pounce on them..positionally spain are so good defensively it makes it difficult for opponents to string passes and get out of their half. Even when attacking every player sticks to their position so they will be able to defend that position when they lose the ball.They pass so much because each player is restricted to his position. Relatively speaking ( compared to say the italians , english ,germans ,etc who have big hearted defenders willing to put their bodies on the line / or are much more organised at the back ) Thats why they lost today.
