Are the previous games also based in modern times , those ps2 and 3ds one ? I loved the classic and vintage theme , esp. the moment where for the first time you see the vampire castle ( jaw dropping ) . I have little doubt regarding modern setting but lets see i am having extremely high hopes from this one .

Don't confuse the legacy Castlevania with the Mercurysteam trilogy. This is a kind of a retcon in the entire timeline and some events may create a paradox if you link them. Character background may seem entirely different. The original timeline , they stay as they are. The reason Mercurysteam got this project is because of the 3D titles which came out on the PS2 , like Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness , did poorly commercially. Castlevania has always been in 2D at it's purest. Evolution was needed desperately after both the titles met with uninspiring level design to say the least and it IS one of the most important aspects of a Castlevania game. So Konami ( like what other pubs like Capcom did with DmC ) took the safe route to not touch the old games and start a fresh. With creative input from Kojima Productions on the cinematics and some character re-designs , LOS was infused with fresh blood ( no pun intended ).

If you have either of the last gen consoles , try getting Castlevania : Symphony of the Night. It's a PlayStation / SEGA Saturn re-release on PSN/XBL. If you've got a PSP , get Dracula X Chronicles. It has both Rondo of Blood and SOTN. Pretty much a safe title to start with the older games and you can catch with all the others , no matter what the timeline is. It's "arguably" one of the three undisputed , greatest CV games ever made.

classic piano one is superb & best , charlie parra's cover is good too

One of the ringtones I shuffle for the past 2 years since it was out, Charlie's one of the most respected artists around doing covers and tracks like Bloody Tears has had literally thousands of covers all these years on since it's inception in the original Castlevania in midi format , and evolved over the years. There are a couple more equally famous among covers , Vampire Killer and Guile's Theme from Street Fighter II. Also do check out Charlie's channel for DBZ & Power Rangers metal cover. They're GODLIKE.

As for SOTN OST ,

Dracula's Castle - All Castlevania have a distinguishable Castle entrance theme and this is arguably the best.

I won't spoil anything but just listen to this.

Lastly , my personal favorite Bloody Tears cover on a piano in recent years. Less innovative than most out there and sticks to the original notes most of it of course , but just beautiful...
