It's pathetic to even think about trademarking a general term. Very Ubisoft like.

There is nothing pathetic about it everybody does it...And it's been on since a long time now.Trademarking a product is not new. You should watch this as well.

It's in response to the video by "The Know."

Some are speculating it's a marketing ploy because you know the game is about hacking and stealing data. I don't think that's the case though. CDPR did the right thing here.

Making Cyberpunk: when Mike Pondsmith met CD Projekt Red

Long read.

But first, of course, there's Cyberpunk 2077. When it will be out, we don't know - 'not before 2017' is all CD Projekt Red has ever said. My guess is 2019, but then what do I know?

"Think of me!" blurts Pondsmith. "I know a bunch of stuff and I can't tell anybody. Lisa and I are likening it to the first Indiana Jones movie years and years ago. We went to a midnight showing before it was a mass release. We're in there, it's this midnight showing at this rinky-dink little theatre in Davis, California, and we watch and we're two of 12 people in the theatre, and we walk out and we go, 'OH MY GOD!' We were frothing. And it's the same thing here."

"As Lisa likes to say: 'We backed the right horse.'"

Cyberpunk 2077 in “Very Intensive” Development; Causes Large Spike in CD Projekt’s Dev Costs

CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 is largely a mystery. It’s so mysterious that it has become a bit of a running joke at pretty much every presentation in which the developer is involved, with executives and developers mentioning as soon as they can that they won’t say a single word about it, and the audience laughing (often a bit nervously).

Yet, the Polish developer is working on it. During a financial presentation for investors held yesterday, President and Joint CEO Adam Kiciński mentioned (begrudgingly, since again, it was his intention not to talk about the game at all), that the team is working “very intensively” on the game, with a large number of developer involved. He also added that “There will be a moment in time” when the studio “will be able to unveil what they have achieved.”

We learn that there are over currently 300 developers working on the game, whereas over a hundred are working on The Witcher franchise (Gwent and updating The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s 4K support for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X). Cyberpunk is the bigger project in terms of team size and capital expenditure the developer is incurring for development.

CyberPunk 2077 Will have online elements; value Of GaaS 'must be acknowledged'- CDPR CEO

“Online is necessary, or very recommended if you wish to achieve a long-term success. At some point, we have mentioned that there will be a certain online element related to Cyberpunk.”

“Multiplayer is strategically important, playing online is strategically important, because we want to have a commercial leg for service type games, games which generate stable income, period to period, which are built. Of course, every game ends after a number of years, some service type games function even after 10 years, but outside our main source of income, meaning big names, it’s building a stable source of income. And in the future, we can imagine a lot of connections between big games and service type games – We have to acknowledge it, it is obvious.”

Reset Era already started sh*ting on CDPR without even knowing what kind of online system game will have. GAF and Era members always assume the worst when it comes to games having online component :| They think game will have microtransactions and focus will be more on multiplayer than story  :|

Cyberpunk 2077 has closed an important stage of production, engine is up and running, release date unknown

Quote

“The engine is up and running. Of course it will be further developed. At each of our games we had to develop technology very well and this time it was the same. It must be appropriate for our needs with the specific title and the world we create and match the capabilities of the devices available on the market. Therefore, the engine needs constant updating – its modifications usually take place to a very late stage.”

“You have to wait patiently for the official announcement. We will not announce the date this year, will we make an announcement next year? I can’t say for certain. Commenting on the speculation market would be unfavorable for us.”

Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter Account Springs Back to Life With a *Beep*

It appears that 2018 might see The Witcher 3 dev CD Projekt RED finally revealing something concrete on Cyberpunk 2077, as the game's official Twitter account sprung back to life yesterday, with a single, but nonetheless rather tantalising  "*beep*".

While a bit of onomatopoeia isn't exactly much to go on - and let's be honest, if it wasn't something as exciting as Cyberpunk 2077, we wouldn't even be reporting it - this does hint at the possibility of some sort of imminent announcement, be it a gameplay trailer, a bit of info, or even a screenshot or two.
