Tried this for 5hrs. Too scripted for my taste. Production values are high but got bored. Uninstalled.

Buying Witcher 3 instead. That game interesting right from beginning. Also open world more immersive despite much worse graphics due to Xbone version.

W3 was the game of generation. It was so good that I want to erase my memory and play that game again.

Because of W3 CDPR is famous. They surely could've done a much better job in cyberpunk.

Finished the heist mission and title card flashed. Liking it so far but driving controls are bad and the game is still buggy (not game breaking ?) af. Even combat is just about passable, it's not as bad as bethesda's rpg games but in 2022 it's all kinds of jank that should have ended with witcher 3.

New patch 1.52 rolled out 2 weeks back, still no New game plus mode.

This games thread is pretty much dead. I think most of the people who were going to play the game have played it.

This game is cult now. Not Mainstream so that you won't find much people playing it in console forums because when the patch released, the gaming crowd were busy with HFW and Elden Ring. So not many are actually playing it now on console even after the next gen patch.

Plus the RedEngine is pretty hard on old gen console so those who played it back then on old gen console had pretty much horrible experience.

Only the game had prime time on PC back in 2021. PC version was pretty much amazing but it's a game which can incite so much judgemental and internet hate left and right because of the atrocious console version and expectation of gamers thanks to CDPR's bad marketing, E3 demo which isn't representation of final game.

If you are willing to overlook those stuffs, you will/can enjoy the game. But problem is, once people had their mind made up about hating on something, it's hard to convince them.

Also, CDPR's decision of making Witcher 4 on Unreal Engine is because of Heavy RedEngine and it's requirement. Their engine was always very heavy on systems, and Console is the death of their engine so to speak.

They had issue with Witcher 2 (you can see the difference between PC and console version in DF's video and how much compromise the console version is), same for CP2077 (the console version was very much compromised, it's still is even after next gen patch as you won't be having all the RTX effects that PC version had on day one).

Every engine has their flavour and I'm afraid RedEngine just gonna get obsolete because it's fate has been decided by Console. One of the few moments in gaming industry where you can't have highly hardware pushing engine and tech and need to get limited.

CP2077 will be a cult game in future. Many people might discover the beauty of it in time. Many won't. The mistakes CDPR made, they kindda paid for it...and they did made the game playable and more on console (nextgen) finally...but it's too late for general gaming crowd. They have moved on already.

Yeah thats exactly my point. It went from the biggest mainstream game ever to a "cult game" in just a year. It was so big at launch that even websites that never talked about gaming were discussing cyberpunk. It was as mainstream as anything can get. That sudden drop is so jarring and sad. I keep repeating the same thing, so probably i'll just say it one last time. The game had a beautiful story...it connected with me emotionally. But the game itself was mediocre. I had really high expectations from the game, But it seems what I expected them to eventually deliver was never a part of their strategy ever. The game as it exists today was what they had in mind all along. And to me that is the definition of a missed opportunity.

GTA online makes a billion dollars a year, I envisioned a game where the opportunity was even higher than that. seems like a lost cause now.

That's the wrong expectation set by CDPR's marketing and gamer's unrealistic expectations, tbh.

A first new IP from a company who don't have any experience in making those kindda games can't be better than games that are specialist in this open world sandbox genre such as GTA 5.

It was funny how media and gamers thought it would be like SciFi GTA or something. A misleading and unrealistic expectation.

I'd say "made to think" is more appropriate? CDPR actively fueled the hype, they don't get to blame anybody else.

Thus I've written: That's the wrong expectation set by CDPR's marketing

Started as a Corpo. Played till the point where we meet Dexter. Liking it so far. Playing on Normal. Performance Mode.

Initial thoughts:

- The inventory seems kinda convoluted. Need some time getting used to it.

- I'm generally not good at FPSs, so need to play around with the sensitivity to get the aiming right.

- The city is really, really cool. The verticality, the structures, etc. are done very well.

- But the NPCs are pathetic. RDR2 has spoiled me. The NPCs here feel just like pieces of code who are walking from point A to point B without any purpose. There are some that are programmed to a certain extent but nothing beyond that. Like, I saw 2 cops trying to get into an apartment. They start by announcing themselves. In my head, I was like, "Oooh, something's gonna happen." But after a few lines of dialogue, they were just standing outside the door. I waited for about 2 minutes, and they did nothing.

- Encountered just one bug, so far. After exiting from The Ripperdoc's place, I saw a random NPC lying flat on the ground in the T-pose. Lol!

Overall, I'm liking it, but really wish there was more depth to the random events (NPCs). Will come across some as I play more, I guess.

NPCs are really bad in the game.  For ex, whenever v gets out of her mega building, there would be 2 cops having food/discussing something.  And then, everytime v passes thru it's the same exact conversation.  It's literally like a background motion wallpaper that keeps running in a loop.

The whole UI is bad IMO. I dread anytime I have to go to inventory to sort something out. Plus the colour scheme and the font size in the menus is real struggle on the eyes.

The aiming on console is really botched. Look up optimum settings for aiming online to find something that works for you ASAP.
