Jade Raymond: Splinter Cell popularity held back by its complexity Jade-Raymond.jpg

Even though we do have core fans who are like, 'Oh, I want to have more of this experience,' when you play any other game that has stealth elements, they're all a lot more forgiving than Splinter Cell

Ubisoft Toronto boss Jade Raymond

Splinter Cell: Blacklist's "stealthiness" has been a bone of contention pretty much since the game was announced. Early trailers showed Fisher storming across a Middle Eastern desert in broad daylight, neck-stabbing crowds of armed bad guys in one fell swoop - a far cry from the series' dark and covert roots. But in recent months Ubisoft Toronto has been keen to show Blacklist's more stealthy side with videos that focus on that aspect of the game.

You'd think this switch indicated a knee-jerk reaction to fan feedback, but Raymond said she remains cautious about putting too much stock in online comments.

Thats Ubisoft in a nutshell this generation. They went from making some complex (RS, GR, SC) and amazing games (PoP) last gen to stuff that is so mainstream it makes Justin Beiber look like a Hipster god.

She is right, look at games like 'a*s''a*s' in creed, a game with bare-bone game mechanic and 5 hours worth of gameplay, stretched and repeated over the course of 40 hours sells millions.

i didn't like AC 2 at all, the only AC game i've ever played. First thing I noticed was how terrible the AI was(worst in current gen) which makes combat boring and stealth a disgrace. AC series is a definition of causal sh*t

He is right about it being casual crap though.

You wanna know how casual AC really is? Get into a fight with 10-15 guys at half upgraded health. Then leave your controller and see how long it takes for you to die. The game literally has a hard time killing you even when you are NOT playing.

The one thing AC series is good at is making you feel like you are doing cool stuff when in reality whatever you are doing requires minimal input and no talent. Its more mass market than Wii Fit.
