Watch Dogs

They don't, but I made them do it - considering the amount of time I wasted on the phone. Escalated to a random supervisor who refunded the amount in good faith. I just need to refuse to accept the package when/if it (finally) reaches me.

Standard procedure for shipped orders is they make you refuse the order on delivery and only then initiate a refund. Wasn't going to stand for that.

Hmmm, should have done that. Anyway, lesson learnt.

It's quite decent for open-world game. I'm doing full stealth playthrough and surely having more fun than pew-pew.

However, with lot of gadgets and camera use, it becomes easy. So keep it to minimal if you want some serious stealth fun. Also, switch to high difficultly.

Great that you are enjoying the game. :D

I'll wait for the fix before I play this game again though.

Power of marketing. Watch Dogs Hacks Into the Ubisoft Record Books

Sure, it’s easy enough for us to call our game highly anticipated. After all, we saw the copious comments from the community and amongst the media – all that lovely chatter about how everyone can’t wait to get their paws on Watch Dogs. And, after a modest delay, we couldn’t wait to deliver Ubisoft Montreal’s innovative take on the open-world adventure. The good news: You really meant it. In its first 24 hours of availability, Watch Dogs sold more copies than any previous title in Ubisoft’s history!

“I once said that the buzz around Watch Dogs was driven by the incredible passion of our early fans,” says Creative Director Jonathan Morin. “Today we broke the record for the biggest first day sales in Ubisoft history. I can never say it enough: thank you everyone! We love you all for your passion and your creativity.”

In development for over five years, Watch Dogs was, from the very beginning, designed to offer a next-gen experience on any system. Introducing hacking as a new gameplay mechanic, Watch Dogs was built on an all-new game engine called Disrupt, which delivers an immersive world packed with emergent gameplay. You take control of Aiden Pearce, a brilliant hacker who suffers a family tragedy and is now seeking justice. Pearce can hack into Chicago’s Central Operation System (ctOS) and literally turn the entire city – traffic lights, security cameras, cell phones, more – into a weapon or tool.
“Watch Dogs is an amazing achievement and our teams should be proud that the creativity, innovation and long hours they invested in making this game are paying off,” said Ubisoft’s co-founder and CEO Yves Guillemot. “It’s great to see so many customers enjoy playing the game, and it shows that Watch Dogs has cracked the code for developing a new blockbuster IP and a thoroughly new-gen experience.”

Thank you all for playing Watch Dogs. Let us know some of your favorite gameplay moments (no spoilers!) in the comments below.

Did anyone have the bug where Aiden is transparent? And everything he touches (the car he gets, the wall he crashes into) becomes transparent?

I have a feeling all these bugs were left in to distract us from the mediocre story, dumb protagonist, and soul-sappingly familiar gameplay design at the center of this. I am not really getting a sense of the story or even the world design, because all I do is tinker on the graphics page. I have an i7, gtx 760 card, so theoretically I should be in the green zone with this game.

Most of the framerate falls on my machine happen when I first loadup after death or reboot. So on first entering the game, I just walk around doing nothing much until the frame rates and textures load up around me. I have never had to accommodate a game so much before in my life.

On the bright spot the missions so far have been fun.

How the hell is game running fine for me on High settlings? I am playing on 1360x768 though.

So am I. Most of it has to do with textures though. The other options dont really effect performance.

Because of the low res and high settings. People are expecting to run the game at 60fps with ultra settings on their two year old mid range rigs and then call it unoptimized when it doesn't.

Hmmm. I am happy as long as it runs and looks better than next gen consoles. I am not playing on my main TV so 768p with FXAA is good enough for me.

Next-gen console settings: http://pastebin.com/LxK2aLB5

As we can see from this config file, the PS4 version was really close to the PC standards. Ubisoft targeted for 1080p and the PS4 version had specific settings for its shadows quality and its “AntiPortal” quality. The Xbox One version, on the other hand, had more unique settings. As we can see, the Xbox One version was also supposed to be running at 1080p. However, this particular version had special values for the Environments, as well as for Vegetation/Geometry/Shadow quality.

well...managed to finish a few missions in act 1 (limited time these days; hence slow progression). I would not write off the game as another GTA rip-off. There are obviously a few "inspired" features in the game; but they kinda add well. Hopefully the game keeps getting better as i play through.
