Watch_Dogs To Receive PC-Exclusive Enhancements

NVIDIA and Ubisoft have signed an unprecedented technical alliance that will see their biggest and best games enhanced with PC-exclusive effects and features. As one of Ubisoft's most anticipated titles Watch_Dogs is of course included in the new alliance, so we went to check out the game at Germany's GamesCom expo.

For specific details of Watch_Dog's enhancements stay tuned to GeForce.com in the coming months.

So wait, is this "PC exclusive" effects and features just for NVIDIA or do they mean better ports for all H/w configs?

It means proprietary FX systems like PHYsX will be implemented in it. Expect Anti-aliasing to be FXAA, which means older AMD cards are going to be toast and visual quality will be jaggier than an equivalent card from nVidia.

No chance of nVidia being so big-hearted to improve the port quality for all hardware.

Meh, will stick with my 7970 till the 9xxx series anyway. Not gonna move over to NVIDIA just for Ubi games.

The technologies that will be implemented in these games titles exclusively on the PC include DirectX 11-powered Tessellation, NVIDIA TXAA (temporal anti-aliasing), NVIDIA HBAO+, (horizon-based ambient occlusion) and full NVIDIA SLI support for people with dual Nvidia GPU setups.

Who knows, if they do a decent job the game might actually look like the initial reveal (at least on the PC) and not like small step above the PS360 as it looked like from the recent videos.

even my 7850??ah well .......will comply with whatever i get :P

Your card should do fine but expect some eye-candy to be either missing or non-functional.

Don't worry, knowing nVidia, it will be stuff that will extract a pound of flesh even from its own mid-range cards.

nVidia is tightening the screws by going proprietary. Next time don't cry for 'optimised' drivers please.
