"I would say the Wii U version is pretty much in between what the current gen is and what the next gen is from a version standpoint," Morin replied. "It's hard to position it. I would tend to say it's maybe a bit closer to current gen than next gen for certain things but it's a beautiful game on Wii U and it's cool to play it just on the GamePad." As for the game's Wii U exclusive features, Morin confirmed that Watch Dogs could be played on the Wii U GamePad in off-screen mode... but that's about it. Getting down to mundane matters, I think they delayed it to avoid clashing with Assassin's Creed IV and having to duke it out with Call of Duty / BattleField 4 mania. Ubi's own ac4 is releasing and it would have been stupid to divide the sales of both the games. Also, i think they would be doing some omtimization now after getting bashed for high pc requirements. I don't think it's because of AC4, CoD and BF4 - If that was the case they would have delayed it long ago. None of those games have suddenly appeared on the scene.
