VelivolusDas
Cronus adapter lets you play Xbox 360 with a PS3 controller and vice versa There's nothing quite so enlightening as a solution to a problem you didn't realize you had. RaptorFire's booth, tucked away in the back corner of the LA Convention Center's South Hall was offering up just that, in form of Cronus, a little USB stick that the company promises will "change how you look at gaming." While the little USB adapter's functionality isn't quite so grandiose (same goes for the company's assertion that it's "the greatest invention in gaming since the controller"), the peripheral offers up an interesting proposition -- being able to control your Xbox 360 with a PlayStation 3 controller -- and the other way around. Oh, and Wiimotes are in the mix, as well. The Cronus is a black USB dongle with a small single digit display on the top and a USB input on the rear. Plug it into the console of your choice, sync it up and you should be good to go. We played a round of Battlefield 3, using an Xbox 360 controller on a PS3 -- and things went smoothly. We didn't get a chance to actually try out the syncing process, but the device's manufacturer assured us that it's quite smooth, for what that's worth. The question, of course, is why anyone needs such a device. The scenario painted for us was visiting a friend who doesn't have the same console at home (you know, if you're capable of looking past such personality flaws). Or perhaps you've picked up a new system yourself, but aren't ready to make that controller leap. The rep we spoke to played down the device's modding potential, perhaps in an attempt to make the whole thing a bit more above board, so far as the manufacturers are concerned. No firm details on pricing or availability yet, though we're told, broadly, that the company's looking to get these to market in two to three months, priced at around $50 to $60. A Press Release, few pics and a short-video can be found in the link.....

Blueelvis_RoXXX
but when will be it available? where? price?
Aftrunner
This would be handy. Playasia used to sell something similar but it was only 360->PS3 and not vice versa. Its a pity there is no way to try it out yourself. Would be nice to check what the deadzones are like on the stick (if any), input delay etc.
hussain
wasnt there a xcm adaptor that did the same?
Right
^ It allows xbox -> ps3 and ps3 -> xbox both. But xcm has turbo this one doesnt. Again, the price is steep, it should be much cheaper than a controller itself.
Big Boss
People are better off buying 3rd party controllers which mimic the other system's controller unless there are some other problems associated with them which I dont know.
Nikushimi
I think I'll wait for something that allows a keyboard and mouse for consoles.
Aftrunner
Thing is though, you get better build quality with first party controllers. Almost all third party controllers I have used so far (PS2, PS3 and 360) either feel cheap (pretty much every third party PS2/PS3 controller) or have questionable build quality (Razr Onza 360). I think the only exception is the 360 MLG controller which is like stupidly expensive. Plus its not just having your preferable controller build, it also negates the need to buy a second controller. So if you only have 1 controller for the 360 and 1 for the PS3, using this you can have two controllers for each. Better than buying 2 new controllers to play MP games. Its even better for someone like me who has multiple 360 controllers and only 1 PS3 controller. So I can even play the few games that allow more than 2 players. Right
No, adapters are better. You would clearly know what are you aiming for.The reason I use xbox controller on PS3 is not just ergo or that I am more comfortable with it. I get proper triggers, the resistive feel of analogs, I dont get the similar deadzone like on 360 but ya it feels better than the DS3 because of the stick resistance. Secondly a bunch of 3rd party controllers were blocked on PS3 sometime back while the adapters didn't, so they are safer bet. Thing is though, you get better build quality with first party controllers. Almost all third party controllers I have used so far (PS2, PS3 and 360) either feel cheap (pretty much every third party PS2/PS3 controller) or have questionable build quality (Razr Onza 360). Right
I think I'll wait for something that allows a keyboard and mouse for consoles. Theres something already for this but console games are not designed to play with KBM, the callibrations have to be done in the game, you can do little externally. Besides, it will be idiotic to search for the button corresponding to RB or R3 when it flashes on the screen.
Aftrunner
Yeah MandK might work someday but you wouldnt be able to aim properly with it. For instance aiming is still juddery as f**k with a mouse on Dolphin emulated wii games and thats an emulator running on the PC. Unless the functionality is built in by the developer it will NEVER work. And no developer will ever bother with it. I mean hell, most developers dont even bother doing proper Mouse aiming on their PC ports.
