mayanks_098
Guys it's not about about just money here. I do not want to sue them. Have made efforts for the last 40 days. But all efforts were in vain. The fact remains that they DO NOT accept that the product is wrong and continue to sell it (@discounted price to lure customers), which is what is wrong. They are selling a wrong product. That is cheating. I would gladly accept refund if they stop selling it.
mayanks_098
They made a mistake by selling wrong region coded dvd and offering you full refunf you are just blowing it out of proportion. But the fact remains that they still sold it to yet more customers with that same description. Shouldn't they edit their description accordingly? Or not sell it all? Do you expect an Indian website to sell non-India compatible products? Suppose you bought a PS3 with US power sockets (110V)?
shockwave
I didn't read past where they offered you a refund. I guess online shopping does come with such lapses, but if they've secured their customers in a way that they're ready to offer replacement/refund, then I don't see any problem. In fact, I trust them more now that I read your case. Consider this: What if they sent you a product which was actually defective (i.e: non-working, which can happen during transit, etc) but they can't offer you a replacement as they ran out of stock and only offer refund. Would you then find their business practice shady? I wouldn't.
mayanks_098
They have a 30 day replacement or return policy... take it and order it off amazon or something.. .what else do you want them to do? Fly to America to Disney, make the disney people show them that they play it on an indian region coded ps3? Tht's a pretty good question? what do you want them to do now??? You quoted the wall of text!!!!! why! Forget about this DVD. If you bought a product, say a music system, which had US power sockets. Then? Product description is what customers read. Incorrect description is trying to cheat the customer. Not accepting and continue doing it to others is even worse.
zygote
I did read it completely I agree with what mayank is doing. It is not about the refund or the money. It is more about the service from a reputed brand whom we all (hopefully) have faith in. If they are gonna deliver such products & offer refunds everytime, how soon are we gonna give up buying from them? So stop buying from them. I've read and heard of multiple reports of customer care executives for Flipkart saying exactly that "We aren't forcing you to buy from us!". They aren't bending down on their knees and asking us to buy. Falling prey to cooked PR and advertising isn't their problem; it's ours! Rest assured Flipkart doesn't care, mostly because it doesn't need to. It's the Airtel philosophy as exemplified by the strategic shift they undertook 3 years ago. We aren't an economy where customer satisfaction is all-important; that next stage will take another decade, maybe more with the way we're heading. Broadband penetration will increase, the number of prospective buyers will also increase, and Flipkart will make it's money for next 5 years. The real fun begins after that. The Wolfy among us
Arrey if they are willing to accept the mistake and give you a full refund, they would do the same to all the customers who also get "deceived"... So what is the problem then?
mayanks_098
When you said 'shady' business practices, I thought they were smuggling in stuff without paying duty or something I dont think this qualifies as 'shady' It does. Wrapper says something but the actual product is different. That is cheating in my book.
Big Boss
I think people are expecting too much from FK owing to their excellent reputation. What they did was wrong by giving wrong description and selling the product. But take their place: 1. They have sold 100 copies, out of which TWO played on Indian region PS3 and found not working. 2. 98 people played on PC or some other goddamn player which played them fine. So, you, FK, who has stock of 200 DVD sets, will stop selling those 100 remaining DVDs, because 2 people had issues. Then, return those 100 DVDs to Disney or Eagle Games or whatever, listening to TWO random guys in India, stating these are incorrect regions, and then might spoil their relations with the Vendor? Seriously? You expect that to happen? This is BUSINESS, not some charity. Talk about blowing things out of proportion Just take the refund and end it. No need stretch this petty issue. They are selling a wrong product. That is cheating. I would gladly accept refund if they stop selling it. Thing is though, 99% of people who buy it in India will either play it on a PC or on a region free DVD player. Very, VERY few people will be affected by this. You just happened to be in the wrong percentage. Which is why I am guessing FK dont care. And which is why you should have just taken the refund and moved on. Fighting on to correct a problem that might affect others is a good thing. But like I said, it will affect so few (if any) people, its not really worth it. Having said that, there is absolutely no good reason why they should have deleted your review. That was absolutely, unequivocally, 100% bullshit. You bought it from them, you have a legitimate complaint and it should be made visible to people that are going to buy it. Its the definition of a review. Edit LOL Beaten to first point by ambar by 60 seconds.
The Wolfy among us
It does. Wrapper says something but the actual product is different. That is cheating in my book. As long as the back label says PAL 5, i don't blame flipkart for knowing that the actual product is. I don't expect them to verify every single copy before they deliver. If you have a problem i suggest you take it up with Disney.

Would you then find their business practice shady? I wouldn't. This happened to me. It was the "The IT Crowd" DVD case (have written about it in the post). All they did was offer me replacements. I have 3 non-working copies of "The It Crowd" at my place. Case was resolved not from their side, but from Eagle's side.
The Wolfy among us
IMO you should've taken the replacement to see if that works...

mayanks_098
IMO you should've taken the replacement to see if that works... I did. It didn't work. Confirmed it with my brother-in-law. He tried on his Xbox. Got the same error for both the sets.

According to them, they've done nothing wrong. With the wide range of products they sell, you can't expect them to know everything about every single product. They ARE offering you a refund. They don't have anything to apologize for. Also, misleading title. "Shady business practices"? Seriously? "Stupid flipkart support", that'd fit. The Wolfy among us
Did you email Disney? I don't expect them to check every single copy but atleast a random check of lots? Or atleast when a customer has given feedback? Maybe in their random check everything worked fine and rosy... that's why when you contacted them, they said they wont check... piper
If a company offers refund, that is sufficient in this type of case. What next, you want them to offer apology via phone, email, or put up an ad in the paper apologising to you? I assumed from the thread title that they refused to refund your money, but since that is not the case, I urge you to take the money and relax. As a side note, if you are willing to spend 1L on your HT setup then you must be well aware that the true experience of Lost would be via BR medium, not DVD. The Wolfy among us
The pack has 24 DVDs. Now in full excitement I inserted the disc in my Indian PS3, and alas, it didn't play. It gave me a region code error, something like "This is incompatible with your region". I tried another and got the same error. I tried a couple more discs and got the same error. Needless to mention, it plays the Indian region DVDs and Indian and region free blu-rays fine, without any issue, including the ones bought from Flipkart. Now that's your problem!
