@MG :lol:

I'm pretty sure everyone paid others for the reps (or did something for them). :giggle:

Yes, I did.

I threatened to torment their existence and inflict upon them every pain possible in this world.

To give then wounds bigger than their egos. To give them humiliation beyond recovery. To give them an existence worse than death.

I threatened them with losing their loved ones.

I am MAFIA!!!!!!!!!

My Entry

--WARNING MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS--

I saw the teaser video about a game, Demons Souls

Intrigued my need of challenging goals.

Rs. 3300 transferred, ordered from Intencity

Quickly unpacked and posted pics on IVG.

A dark back story, mystery surrounds the colorless fog

An old creepy voice mentions the existance of a Demon God.

Tiny yet brave you venture into the world

My fingers on the controller tightned their curl.

Ah! a tutorial, I thought; for a game silent and lull

Was not long until a massive demon broke my skull.

Trapped in nexus, my health almost halved

Ancient stones once, had demons on them carved.

Enter level one, Palace of a Fallen King

Surprisingly one would find here the most useful ring.

Knights in armour, Dragons standing tall,

You must beat each boss, responsible for your fall.

Level two was a tunnel filled with dispair

Riddled with enemies, their flame you must bear.

Lousy falls and heart wrenching fights,

"How do I beat this boss?" gave me sleepless nights.

A tall tower of Latria, magical; yet is cursed,

In online play, other players await to be nursed.

Foolish idol's secret is revealed in the church

Watch out for Yurt, leaving you in the lurch.

Pray then to a shrine where skeletons stay awake,

Skies rain down thorns, your souls are at stake.

A blind hero wanders, with no sight nor smell,

Don't make any sound, your position he will tell.

Drowned is a valley defiled with mice and plague

You will travel in posioned waters, your destination still vague.

The maiden in black will always come to your aid

To put the old one back to sleep, her life she'd trade.

To these designers I must applaud and clap

Being one myself, always fell into thier trap

I was not playing the game, it played me.

As a wanderer I only managed to reach LEVEL 123.

I kid you not, lord punish me if I lied.

A million times the screen read "YOU HAVE DIED"

100 hours spent, "Ab toh bahut hua, bass"

On the other hand I thought, Lets go NG + +.

What an experience, an action RPG tougher than hell

With massive online PVP, and so many stories to tell.

Lets hope this entry, is good enough to win

Else I will pick out more rubbish, from my creative bin.

--END--

MY ENTRY

Hello My Friend, Stay Awhile And Listen.

These are the words that changed my lives forever, these words gave rise to a die hard gamer.

29635_Deckard_Cain_Raps_low_1260532048.jpg

If you still have not guessed it, I am going to talk about the game that changed RPG genre forever. The game that made Blizzard the multimillion company that it is today.

DIABLO 2

Diablo-2-Front-Cover-11589.jpg

I got my first PC in 2001, a Compaq Pentium 3. I was in the 3rd standard. I dint know what real gaming was, sure I had played hours on Mario on video games, but they felt kind of kiddish to even a kid like me. I got a few games like Roadrash, Recoil but I was like, yeah this is cool racing and all, but deep inside me I knew this was not my destiny.

I still remember that day, the day that changed my destiny, it was 16Th May 2002, and my vacations were going on when my friend called over me to his house. He showed me a new game he had got from his uncle. It was Diablo Battle Chest. We both opened it carefully like children open birthday presents.

It contained Diablo 1, Diablo 2 + Lord Of Destruction, and the official strategy guide of Diablo 2 by Brandy Games. I had never seen such a game like this. The cover made me a bit scared but I could not wait to play it on my new PC. We then decided that he would keep and play Diablo 1 while I play Diablo 2 and use the guide.

I put the disc and installed it and finally started the game with LOD.The game told me to insert the cinematic disc, which I did, and it showed me this.

This was the first cinematic I had seen in a game, it made me sh*t in my pants and I literally mean it. I had never seen such realistic graphics in a game. The jump from those 8-bit graphics to this was unreal. I had never seen such details in a game. The scene still gives me Goosebumps till this day.

The game proceed to ask me to pick a character, all of them looked awesome. I was not sure which one to pick. I had always heard in school that god always protects those who believe in him, hence I picked the only character which believed in him, The Paladin, and now he has become my most like character ever in a game. Till this day I pick a similar character in every RPG game I play.

d2-loading-screen.gif

This was the first RPG game I was playing. I still remember the loading screen which was a door opening and filling the dark room with light. It made me believe that my actions would actually save the world. I was pretty good in learning the basics in games and in no time I was up and running in killing those monsters in the first level outside the camp.

But that was it, in the first quest I was given to clear a den which was almost pitch dark. I will be honest here, I was to scared to go inside, well what would you expect a child in 3rd standard to do?. That was the time when I had left the game for about a month, but that was not to be.

My friend had come over to my place since he now wanted to play Diablo 2, he decide to take the original game disc since I just needed the LOD disc to play the game. Three days latter he told me the game was awesome and he had already defeated Blood Raven (the 2nd quest in the game). This fueled me, I thought if he could do it then why couldn’t I?. I picked up the disc, put it right inside, said my prayers to the god and went inside.

I killed all the bloody monsters inside and as soon as I killed the last monster, the den was filled with light. I realized I was the person who had got light at this place and I could make a difference.

Slowly I got hooked to the game. I started spending days and night over the game; I would carry the official guide to my school and read it there during lunch or any free time I would get. Trying to strategies how best to handle the quest. I swear, if I had spent that much time on my studies I would have topped the class. People would think I was crazy, but I never stopped. I was sucked by the game.

The game was totally awesome. You play as a character which was tasked with saving the world for the three Prime Evils, Diablo, Baal and Mephisto. You can equip armor and weapons to kill the demons. And there were tons of them to kill. You could never get bored. As for the story, in the first play through I did not understand much of it. But I did not need too, the game was just too much fun. Loot gold off bodies, always upgrading your sword and shield, collecting runes to make you character even stronger. You would always be occupied with something or the other. Later on further playthrough I got to know the beautiful story this game has to offer.

There is even a Hardcore Mode present in this game which means that if you die your character is lost forever. That makes you always be on your toes. You can never be too careful. Trust me, i know how much it hurts to loose a character just like that in one hit after you have put hours in it. Lost my Barb in Hell to the Bone Prison to Diablo. It crushed me but also game me the desire to beat his a*s in HELL.

People call the game click-fest, well it that but you need lot of skills for it too, any one who disagrees, i suggest them to just try defeating Diablo on HELL :)

Blizzard had spend soo much time to develop the characters. Every character had a great backstory which really made me to help them. It really looked like they were in lot of trouble and needed help. The stories Deckard Cain told were a joy to listen to. For me he is the best NPC to ever be in a game. I bow down to them for creating a character like him. :majesty:

deckard2.jpg

Finally I had beaten the game defeated all the 3 Prime Evils and oh boy was it tough. Not like games of today which just give you the power right at the start to troll the game. This game really made you work for it. It really felt like a achievement on beating them, I jumped off my chair after beat Baal thinking finally the game is finished only to find that I had just finished it on normal, now it was time for nightmare baby!!!!. New game cycle with super tough opponents.

THE BEST ENDING EVER IN A GAME

202219-tyrael_image_2.jpg

This game had multiplayer too, through Battlenet. Gave me my first introduction to multiplayer. It was awesome fun to play together and defeat the tougher opponents. Every person had his role, me being a Paladin, I was too save people from death with my heal and defensive spells. Remembering those times I saved them from certain death still brings a smile to my face.

Today I see children aged 10 complain that their 2-5 Mbps connection is not fast enough to play COD/BF and want a faster connection. I smile at them and say, “Child, try playing Multiplayer on a 56 Kbps Dial Up connection, then you will see the luxuries you have today.”

diablo35.jpg

The dial up connection never stopped me from playing the game. It was soo awesome that I once finished my yearly download allowance by the ISP on the game in 2 months flat downloading character mods and playing online.

This game was that addictive. This game had made me a die hard RPG fan. Today I have spent hundreds of hours playing RPG games. Have spent these hours, Final Fantasy 12- 154, Dragon Age Origins- 76, Dragon Age 2- 52, Fallout 3- 50, Fallout NV- 35, The Witcher- 23, Demons Souls- 30, Oblivion- 20 and many more I probably cant even remember.

But all these hours combined can’t even come close to the time I have spent on Diablo 2, I have spent all my childhood and teen hood playing this game. I got a new PC just last year(i have had just 2 pc ever the pentium 3 one and this new one) and till that time I was playing this game probably cause my pc could not play anything else. :P I still have the all the contents of the Battle Chest with me till this date. I had decided never to buy a collectors edition of another game unless it proves to be better then this game for me. 11 years and countless games later; this is still the only one I have.

In closing I just have to say, if you have not yet played this game yet, please do so. You deserve to play this game just for owning a PC. It is avaliable at the Blizzard store for 10$ link and i highly recommend that you try it. Blizzard deserve all the support for making such a great game.

I started my story with a quote from Deckard Cain and I am going to end it with him, my tribute to the great man.

Where the actions of hell seem straight forwardly bent on destruction, the motives of heaven are unfathomable.
