@i_rock098 +1 for the Diablo entry. I was very close to choosing DII as my game of choice as well, specially after losing my Hardcore 78 Amazon. Lets Hardcore TCP/IP sometime soon I need to vent my DIII anger out!

Thanks Man

It must be really hard for you to lose your Amazon at 78 after putting in soo much effort :console:, do you remember who killed you?

Sure thing man, anytime you say :)

My Entry:

My favorite game is S.T.A.L.K.E.R.(Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky & Call of Pripyat - some more than the others. CoP == SoC > CS). Gonna refer to all three as STALKER below.

I have spent nearly 200+ hours on STALKER.

First time I played STALKER was around 2010 I think. It was Call of Pripyat. I clearly remember my first time in the game. I started the game up, ran to the base & started finding a

mission(hey, that's what I had done so far all my life). I skipped the conversation & jumped right to the mission. It was to go to the nearby ship with some guys to kill some other guys at night.

It wasn't extraordinary. Shooted at them, they died. Looted their bodies. Same old, same old. But then when I went outside to return to the base, that was when I realised, it was night time.

And night time in STALLKER games is no "oh it's night, let me turn up the blue for you" night like the other games. IT GETS REALLY DARK. And after walking couple of steps in the direction of the base,

got attacked by a mutant. Scared shitless, I ran back to the ship where the mission took place. There's no waiting system in the vanilla game. Waited 'til dawn to get out while chatting with the

guys that were with me on the mission.

So I learned the basic mechanics(dialog system, PDA features, controls) of the game while waiting for the night to pass. I won't forget that night - my first night in the Zone.

Finished the game in about two weeks. Oh man, what I'd give to be able to experience those two weeks over & over again.

A typical night in the Zone(Zaton base, Misery Mod). And this is only a clear weather night. In a stormy/foggy night even flash-lights/nightvisions fail.

After that first playthrough, I was super excited about Shadow of Chernobyl - the game that started it all. People on internet were all like "you like Call of Pripyat? Shadow of Chernobyl will

blow you away." And they were right. It blew me away.

I got the game, installed the Complete Mod 2009 & started playing. For some reason, I found that game -running on the initial version of XRay engine(dated 2003-2007) with all its bugs- more beautiful than the

Call of Pripyat. I realized why people(mostly Russians) went crazy about the series. Halfway through the game, I reached a location called Rostok plan. It's a former factory which is acquired by the Duty(faction)

to use as their main base of operations. I fell in love with that place, hard. With songs like "Season Song" (28 days later end credits theme) & some Russian songs playing over loudspeaker, that

place became my home. I spent a major amount of time wandering on the rooftops of the factory, listening to loudspeaker announcements & music & taking screenshots - basically doing nothing.

It was the first location in Shadow of Chernobyl which was completely under control & 100% mutant free. Loved it.

I can write all about my love for the further locations in the game(Army Warehouses, Red Forst, Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant(CNPP)) but I'm trying to keep this short.

After completing Shadow of Chernobyl twice(there are actually about 7-8 endings, 2 real & rest false/bad) in Vanilla(only Complete Mod) & once in Oblivion Lost, I jumped on to Clear Sky.

It was nothing special as a standalone game, but as a prolog to Shadow of Chernobyl, it was really interesting seeing how the bases were acquired by the factions & what led to the events of

Shadow of Chernobyl. It also featured my favorite bar music from all STALKER games, Freedom Base radio.

I have played SoC & CoP many other times during some half-assed attempts at a full playthrough. Modded like crazy(Oblivion lost, Stalkersoup, Lurk, I Work Alone, Misery & some minor mods).

Currently I'm doing my 5th playthrough of Call of Pripyat, with SGM mod which basically adds locations from SoC, weapons & a whole lot of stuff. Today I spent half an hour just listening to

stories members of a fanatic faction(Monolith) were telling.

tl;dr version:

Played STALKER like crazy - modded/unmodded. Atleast 8+ walkthroughs. Dodged uncountable anomalies/emissions, quicksave-quickloaded a gazillion times, looted thousands of corpses, killed thousand of

stalkers, hundreds of mutants. Saw every thing the Zone has to offer & still want more.

TONS OF MODS!

The original STALKER(Shadow of Chernobyl, formerly known as Oblivion Lost) was announced in 2001. After countless delays and adversities, it was released in 2007. And still it delivered.

In late 2011, GSC went down. The devs kept working on STALKER 2 for atleast 6 months - WITHOUT ANY PAYCHECK.

This is why I actually respect the developers even though XRay engine was/is buggy & inefficient.

So yeah, this is why I love STALKER.

P.S.: Steam cloud screenshots don't work with img tags. Also, kept it short.

P.P.S.: R.I.P. STALKER.

I am in discussion with Dribbler about the judging, I believe he is also doing his share of hard work on this as we speak.

But honestly guys, some of the entries are really good and definitely from the heart. Taking the final decision will be so damn tough, so thank you all for making it so. The real winner is gaming, because it is not often that one gets a chance to express their feelings towards their "game of forever".

@Snake : If you're reading this, I had expected you to express some love for MGS but good thing you skipped and let others have a fair chance at winning :P

@Dribbler : PMed you, let the fun begin!

He, Fushy, Abhinit and others helped me a lot when i was new here way back in 2008 during the GI days. It is all because of these guys i am what i am today :)

Thanks a lot man , I hope i was able to do justice to one of your all time fav games :)
