Hot-Drake-Pixel
At the moment 40 gb model does not have backward compatibility. SixAxis connected to PS3 or not, does not matter.

Since 40 GB doesn't seem to be having any problem, I think its better to go for 40 GB US model...! PS3 40 gb NTSC/a is the best option. it will cost 16k oddas opposed to 24k in india. The only major problem we have seen is SoD, which is again totally negligible 40 gb models. And even if it happens, we know how to get it fixed by ourselves for 2-3k odd. 2 of our members have showcased the same.

Hot-Drake-Pixel
^^ But will NTSC/a console play movies imported from Amazon ? Amazon.com , ABSOLUTELY!! Infact you are better off with a region A console. Moreover about 70% of BD titles are region free, so it does not matter which region is your console from. I have a 60 Gig US version. Does the 40 Gig version have card readers. Is there a way to get 60Gig verion?? I know it has been discontinued long time ago. There might be a chance that some store still has it.

Lord Nemesis
What is this SoD problem? Never heard of it before. I have a 60 Gig US version. Does the 40 Gig version have card readers. Is there a way to get 60Gig verion?? I know it has been discontinued long time ago. There might be a chance that some store still has it. SOD means Spin of Death, The 60GB PS3 that are available in the market are the initial versions of the PS3 and the Blue Drives in these are not very reliable. When you play a game that stresses the Blue Ray drive like COD 4, Heavenly Sword etc, the drive has a high chance of going bad (stops working). This problem has been reported for the 60GB PS3's too much and the 40GB Models are more immune to this problem. I myself had to get my 60GB PS3 replaced because of this problem. Also the 60GB PS3 are being phased out and I got a 40GB PS3 as replacement. Some old 60GB stock is still present in some stores. Apart from the SOD problem there is one more major reason to prefer a 40GB model for anyone buying a new one. My 60GB Model used to throw out a lot of hot air and the unit indeed gets very hot. My new 40GB model hardly throws out any hot air. This is because the 40GB Models uses a 65nm Processor as againist the 90nm one in the 60GB Model. Also several of the components are improved in the 40GB PS3. There is no PS2 backward compatibility, but news is that Sony can introduce the same pretty easily through a software update if required. But frankly speaking PS2 games look like sh1t on the PS3. the other differences are not that important, theres no Memory card reader and there are only 2 USB ports are againist 4 in the PS3. lastAvenger
^ A very good explanation dude. I am going to recommend people to get the 40GB model too because if you actually go and buy a 60GB model right now there are very good chances that the SOD problem might happen which means you will have to go to Sony service center and get it replaced for a 40GB which will again cause a lot of nuisance and all but think about after 1 year when the SOD problem happens and there is no warranty ? You will end up paying extra to Sony for replacing the drive or fixing it.

Thanks buddy for the explanation. I have played Heavenly Sword and my drive is working fine till now (touch wood). Is this problem unique to PAL region PS3? Like I said mine is NA version. I have been tracking PS3 forum regularly but there is nothing much of SOD thats being reported. As a matter of fact those guys are trying to get the 60 Gigs version but there is none available there. About the hot-air.. Yes I completely agree with you.. my 60 gigs does blow lot of hot air out.. reason is like said the 90nm cell and ofcourse it has to cool down the EE (the PS2 chip). Buy since my PS3 is at a distance of 14 ft. from where I play, It really doesnt hurt me. I use the card reader very often to transfer photos from digicam memory chip. May be your advice of 40 GB is correct in PAL version but if you ask the folks in NA.. they will go for 60 Gigs.
