Steam and GFWL

Recommended Posts

I bought Arkham City and Arkham Asylum through Steam (in one of those many sales). Now the games activate through GFWL for the first time. But after that am never able to sign in to GFWL because it says an update is required, and when I try an update, it throws some weird code. (I even followed the code and reset my tcp/ip as per MS, no luck). The games have been activated twice now, and still don't show up in my GFWL profile.

I have tried uninstalling and installing GFWL multilple times, and now I can click Play for both games in Steam with no luck whatsoever. Any advice from anyone?

PS. I have a different rant for Max Payne but will leave that for another day. Why the hell does buying original mean I have to dance through multiple hoops to play a game and it can lead to so much frustration?

I had the same problem with GTA IV(Not bought through steam). It kept telling me to sign-in & then update either failed or took forever.

Solution: Manually download the patch if it's available. Yes, patch - for the game. I didn't realize until I applied the GTA IV patch manually. After than, it doesn't show the update required notification. Dunno about Batman, but Rockstar provides setups for patches.

Good luck.

Seriously sad to see all this trouble even after paying so much for our games. DRM and all is acceptable but at the same time they need to make sure it all happens smoothly.

I prefer to stay away from these type of games which has more than one activation thing....but i guess i will have no option in case of Batman AC. :(

@Gramps, download the update released by skidrow or reloaded. No, i am not asking you to crack but to download only the update which will enable you to update the game. Obviously delete the crack.

WTF !!! :suicide:

It's better to get disc games for few hundreds rupees more instead of buying from Steam , atleast U don't face so many problems

The same problem was faced by Fable 3 bought from Steam and then activated on GFWL

It's always better to get GFWL games from retail .. I have bought 5 GFWL games till now , no problem faced

Will this work on the Steam version?

Can anyone tell me why GFWL won't update?

GFWL has so many issues, sometimes it just shows the same status for an hour and suddenly increase 50 - 60%.... sometimes it hangs forever....donno what is the exact reason :scratchchin:
