saadmomin
Hello guys, I have a PS3 Slim 250GB. I use to play on my Onida Black SD TV (very old without HDMI) with the AV cable which was working fine. Today I got an HDMI to DVI Cable and connected my PS3 to the monitor. The monitor I have is LG 19 inch W1946TN monitor. It is HDCP compatible. Check this out: http://www.lg.com/in/computer-products/lcd-monitor/LG-W1946TN.jsp When I turn on my PS3, my monitor says "DVI-D - Power Saving mode" and then the power light blinking in 1 sec frequency. (Note this is not no signal indication as it shows No Signal when there is no signal. but here it just keeps blinking) I tried the 5 secs hold till second beep method as well. It does not work. When i connect it again to my TV, it works fine. I tried connecting both TV and monitor and changed the output to HDMI manually, it goes blank on TV for 30 secs and comes back on the TV on composite output. the monitor keeps blinking power light. I am really not sure what else to try. Very confused. Please HELP!!!! P.S. : I dont have the AV cables connected. Also tried resetting the monitor to factory settings. as well as the PS3. Dont know what else should i do.

saadmomin
What are the PS3 Display settings? When I connect the PS3 to my old TV, it detects the TV with composite cable connection. When I also connect my monitor along with the TV using the HDMI-DVI cable and try to switch to HDMI Video Output, the screen goes blank on the TV for 30 secs and comes back on the TV. The monitor power light keeps blinking all the time. When i only connect the monitor, the power light is stable on which means its getting some signal but shows just a blank bright screen. saadmomin
Also guys I researched on this issue a lot and i think that the problem is with my monitor here. If anyone of you feels the same, I will not hesitate to replace this monitor with a Full HD monitor. Please suggest me a monitor which is tested to work on a PS3 with the HDMI-DVI input through PS3. Thanks a ton for your help!
Big Boss
Check with different cable. Do you have a laptop with HDMI out? Try connecting that with monitor via HDMI to DVI cable. Either the cable is bad or monitor's DVI port. Please suggest me a monitor which is tested to work on a PS3 with the HDMI-DVI input through PS3. Why HDMI-DVI input? Get a monitor with HDMI input directly.

Dont know what else should i do. Your cable is faulty. Ps3 is very picky when it comes to using cable on hdmi port. when I first bought Ps3 I tried using cheap 150 rs cable it didn't work then I bought a official Sony hdmi cable now its working flawlessly. plus I'm using the cheap cable for my xbox 360 which works as good as official one. popeye
the cable must be faulty i think..and try to connect the dvi cable tightly to the back of monitor..i did that and worked for me.
saadmomin
I have checked this yesterday with my brother's laptop. It works fine with my laptop on 720p. What I think here is that the PS3 is trying to output on 1080p on my monitor which only supports till 720p and that is the reason its not working. What do u think? Big Boss
Yup that might be the problem. But PS3 detects the modes which your monitor supports. Try unchecking 1080p in HDMI settings in PS3.
Ram Dante
Jus connect the HDMI and press and hold the PS3 power button until you hear 3 beeps. This will reset the ps3 video settings, now you can change to any video setting you want.

Solid Praky
I have got exactly the same problem as his. Its a LG 22" monitor. Everything was working fine then two days back I used the cable to connect to my laptop to watch a movie. I then connected it back to PS3, since then it only shows black screen I tried using AV connector and change the display settings manually, but no use. HDMI cable is not at all detected. I reset the display settings 100 times, it doesnt seem to change anything. I thought may be cable is faulty, but when I connect it back to laptop, it works flawlessly... Someone help me pls.
