playstation
Documents appear to show PS3 Super Slim Documents have appeared that appear to show a PlayStation 3 Super Slim model. Documents filed with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), spotted by Japanese website Pocket News, reveal Sony Computer Entertainment's plan to release a new PS3 model, labelled the 4000 series. We're currently on the 3000 series. Specifically, the CECH-4001x model is mentioned, and this could relate to a slimmer PS3, which Eurogamer has heard will be announced at German game show Gamescom next month. playstation
What will they remove? USB they can't. I am guessing LAN port and a smaller HDD? even if they Dont include hd at all and let buyers buy it separately and price it all just for $99. it still gonna sell like crazy. dullu
they will include HDD but remove the blu ray drive...thats the costliest component. And this coupled with psn+ instant game collection is the best starter pack u can ever get

They won't/can't do that. They need to ensure they provide the minimum hardware necessary to run games. Most ps3 games need hdd to install game data. Big Boss
Yup they cant remove HD as install data is mandatory in almost all games, and download only PS3=fail. Rumors are it will be a reduced size chipset, wifi only and only HDMI output.

Dullu paji ke gal kar reha ho tusi aajkal...ke hogaya tanu paji... @tock, hdd can be bought separately..still i doubt but it is not so hard to remove hdd and replace it with minimum memory inbuilt to run a game and then literally force consumer to pay separately for hdd. Also its not like game cannot be played without installing..maximum of them can be played without installing. And this coupled with psn+ instant game collection is the best starter pack u can ever get I hope you know the success of PSP GO They might do what Amber said and the price won't be $99 for sure . Sony has to price PS3 appropriately or it would kill their Vita which is already sitting on the graveyard and all it's flagship games like Uncharted flopped badly

Shadoken
Dont compare this to PSP GO coz Mobile phones give it really stiff competition. IF this does launch as a 99$ Digital only console , you ll have tons of buyers for Netflix, youtube , media streaming device and crap like that . Not to mention digtal games as well. Ofc this will be a secondary console and they continue to sell a system with bluray . 100$ is too cheap , why would they want to make losses on PS3 again?
