State of Decay

Zombies always sell. Will buy PC version. Got into driving portion on XBLA version yesterday and cars handle nicely. Not like Dead Island. And it showed vastness of the open world. I really wanted a better camera view, slightly closer to the protagonist to make me feel more involved, kinda like Last of Us. It seems too far.

Game is coming to PC/Steam shortly -

"We're currently working on a PC version for release on Steam. Fortunately it's been in development alongside the Xbox 360 version since Day 1, so we just need to integrate with the Steam platform and add native support for keyboard and mouse control. We'll also continue to issue Title Updates at a fast pace to refine game balance and fix bugs.

"Beyond that, we're laying plans for the future of "State of Decay" right now. There's an incredibly sophisticated simulation engine driving the world of "State of Decay" — we call it FateEngine — and it gives us a platform to do much more with the game. For a start, I can tell you we're working on a sandbox mode designed to be a pure survival simulation. Beyond that, all I can say is we pay very close attention to what fans of the game are asking for, and their needs will largely guide our development priorities, so stay tuned."http://www.pcgamesn.com/indie/permadeath-zombie-game-state-decay-coming-pc

For example, a player asked during the chat "could we bring along an NPC on missions?" Jeff says that's the second most requested feature... and so we're putting it in Title Update 3. And that's a promise.
Speaking of the PC version, Jeff confirmed that we are going to be taking part in Steam's Early Access program. That means we will be doing a controller-only PC version in advance of the final release for the purposes of feedback. The final version of the PC version will of course have keyboard/mouse support.

Finally, he confirmed that it would be out in 2013. We'll be more specific as soon as we can.

We teased a little sandbox stuff during the chat! Jeff said, "The goal of sandbox is to provide an unbounded experience, one with no victory condition that ends the game. The way we do that is to continue to have a world with finite resources, but find out 'how long can I stay alive.'"

Without going into too much detail (although details are coming within a week), you start in the world, build your community, clean the valley out - and when it runs dry, you can leave with some portion of your community and go to "the next valley." The next valley is the same map, repopulated with resources...but harder. More zombies. More difficulty. Just...more.

Greetings, PC Players! The Steam Release Date Is…Tomorrow

Let me back up a little: Greetings, PC players! Our Early Access version hits Steam on Friday, September 20th.

Our publisher is pricing it at twenty bucks, same as the Xbox version. Those willing to throw in with us at Undead Labs and your fellow early adopters will automatically get the final version, completely free, with no need to restart, when we officially launch later this year.

What you’ll see this Friday, if you choose to join forces with us to make the PC version kick a*s, is a test version. It’s not ready to be reviewed. It will not be perfect. It may still have crashes. What it won’t have is a keyboard and mouse interface…not at first. Why not? Over the next however many weeks, we will be putting up versions of the keyboard interface and using your comments and feedback to make it awesome. Right this minute, the Early Access version requires an Xbox 360 controller.

This process is not for everyone. Casual players, the easily frustrated, and the short of time should NOT get the Early Access version. Hey, I am all three of those things, y’all. Those are not criticisms. It’s just that we want everyone to have the experience that best suits their needs. You all deserve the best, so if you’re not into giving feedback, just wait a few months and play the final version after we make it great.

And it will be great, with the help of the rest of you – the hardcore early adopters that made SoD into something big. Who’s in?

Sadly no. Direct XBLA port.

(size 1.9, since 2GB is limit(?)).

Same texture, nothing polished, everything same including controls.

Plus, you need controller to play the moment.

If they allow modding in future, this game might live for years.

The game has preset graphical sliders. Min to Max and the res is also just 480 - 720 - 1080. Some slight changes from the 360 version but not anything significant. Also the animations are repetitive (combat especially).

Haven't played much yet though. Waiting for the weekend to really get into it :(
