silentassassin
My PS3 shutdown itself while while SSX a month back..It automaticaly shutdown and redlight kept flashing.. For like 3 weeks this problem never repeated..About 10 days back I was playing MW3 for an hour same thing happened..Ps3 switches of automatically , beeps thrice and red light keeps flashing.. I tried it again 2 days later , the ps3 switched off again in jus 3 mins in the same place of the game it switched off last time..So i assumed its a problem with the game.. 2 days back i played Binary Domain for 5 hours straight , Literally had no problems.. Yesterday i switched on the ps3 to continue Binary Domain , 3 mins into the game the PS3 switched off with 3 beeps and flashing red light.. I tried it again 2day..Even today after 2 or 3 mins into the game the PS3 switched off..I switched back on the PS3 immediatly.. This time i played for around 3 hours and PS3 dint face any problems..Dint shut down itself or anything.. Mine is Phat 80 gb PS3..While playing the fans does'nt make any sounds..Its quiet.. So can anyone confirm is it YLOD or is it someother problem ? How long will my PS3 survive ? Thanks for reading Please post valuable info only..I request people not to troll in this thread.. pappu_pass
1. You can register multiple machines from a single account...i suggest to hold on to the account 2. Issue is probably related to overheating specially as you own a fat ps3. I assume its not kept in a cabinet....if so please keep it out in the open. 3. If you are using a power bar or a multiplug...try to power the ps3 from a dedicated power source....this step only for elimination power supply issues.... 4. If step two is useless....the problem could be that the thermal paste used on the core inside is no longer working...you can either be adventurous and open the console yourself to check that. (you tube will hep) or take it to the service center Best of luck

Modgill
Well check my new post regarding Ps3 Paid Replacement. My PS3 did exactly the same thing as OP. I played Resistance 3 continuosly everyday for 6 Months, no problem. One Day, i downloaded Deus Ex human revolution. Played it non-stop, suddenly the Ps3 shut down itself. Started it up and shut down itself. Basically every week, it used to shut down once. then i cleaned it and de-dusted it. For 2 months no problem. Then it became very seirous to the point any game was unplayable apart from Fifa 12. The PS3 kept shutting itself and flashing red light even upon starting a game or starting a ps3 and even on updating system software. Yes, the PS3 is dying and it should be backed up and replaced. This is my first hand experience. Before its too late , because eventually it WILL YLOD and then the discs are stuck and backup wont be possible. silentassassin
No Problem from the day i posted this here.. As someone suggested i plugged the PS3 directly to switch..I used to connect it to a spike buster earlier..After connecting it directly i'm not facing any issues.. Plus from a week if i accidentally move the spike buster the pc would turn off..So i'm thinking there is some problem with the spike buster
Big Boss
Oh. I hope connecting to spik guard doesn't do any damage, because I am doing the same now.
pappu_pass
Oh. I hope connecting to spik guard doesn't do any damage, because I am doing the same now. Well, most local power bars available in India are not rated to distribute the high amount of amperage high end devices pull. If your set-up has a big lcd/old CRT + PS3 + speaker system......the heat production can be detrimental and eventually effect the supply flow to a particular device. If pulling power from multiple outlets is not an option, the least you should do is to pick up a very good power bar. While Cone and Anchor power bars are at par with build quality of Belkin, i've felt that the plug point "grip" of Belkin is superior. Best layman test is to take a two-point Nokia charger, famous for poor fit, and try it with different power bars for "grip" comparison. Happy gaming
