Played BF 4 for the first time. This is actually my first battlefield game. Tried to be a sniper; got no kills. Enemies either move too fast or I can't account for the bullet drop. Tried assault but run-and-gun isn't what I enjoy. I'm thinking of selling it. Is there anything I can do that doesn't involve killing with a gun?

Not to sound harsh but you are just flat out playing it wrong. Sounds like you playing it like a normal shooter when its a team based game above everything else. Running and gunning isnt something you ought be doing anyway.

1 Kills arent everything. Infact, kills are secondary to most actions you can AND OFTEN SHOULD be doing when playing BF. You can easily be one of the best players in the game with really poor K/D ratio.

2 Recon/Sniper is one of the more difficult classes to play so stay off it and try something else till you can get a hang of things.

3 Assault is also the medic, you should unlock the medic items fairly quickly. Use them. Use the f**k out of them. Revive people when they die, they will be super grateful. Drop Medipacks around every corner you can see people getting hit. Watch your score ratchet up.

4 Support is good for dropping ammo. Very underrated class. Every class will run out of ammo super fast. Your job is to make sure they dont. Drop ammo packs. Use your heavy MG to suppress people.

5 Engineer is good for wrecking vehicles and repairing them. So do just that. Any time you see a friendly vehicle with low health, repair it.

For starters, I would say assault is the easiest class. You get the best guns and you can still be useful if you cant use those guns very well.

TLDR version? Be a team player. Forget about your kills and deaths for a while. Those secondary actions that each class does are actually the primary actions each class SHOULD be doing.

Oh and over everything else. SPOT. SPOT EVERY ENEMY YOU SEE. ITS INSANELY USEFUL. Back button on consoles, Q on the PC. Hammer that button any time you see an enemy. Make it a habit to do it while you engage and shoot.

Snipe from high buildings. But make sure you are not ambushed by guys doing HALO jumps

Always place a C4 whenever you see a vehicle/chopper spawn .Sooner or later someone is going to board it and bam easy kills

lastly play n play.the more you play the better you will be comfortable with the map.

Since you are new I would advice to stick with your team mates
