Aragorn
Hi All, Has any one considered upgrading the hard drive to solid state drive? Like the one thats available on the premium version of Macbook Air? I believe its very costly at this time.. but in the future we can have that.. techies what do you think? I am sure it will have performance advantages + less heat.. can some one explain anything further?
khanak
Isnt an SSD geared towards mobile applications?
lastAvenger
Its actually meant for mobile devices. Basically SSD is a hybrid between flash drives and normal hdds. The advantage of having an SSD drive over a normal HDD in laptops is that there are no moving parts in SSD which means the hdd remains intact so the chances of losing data or faulty hdd is very minimum. Right now SSDs cost about 1000$ and i think its not really worth going for them atm. They say that the booting time of OS improves when using SSD but the improvement is very low compared to the normal hdd's
