Solitaire
If I liked dirt series will I like grid? Is it more of a sim than arcade ? It's kinda like Dirt but on city/urban tracks. Not rally but head on racing for the most part. Pretty cool, give Grid (the first one) a try. You'll definitely like it. I wouldn't call it a sim but it's pretty well balanced between being fun and being atleast a bit realistic when it comes to handling.
MarketTantrik
^^ They are different games. Grid is like Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed. Semi realistic and more fun than a truck full of baby monkeys.

NFS: PU is the best NFS I've ever played. I still play it occasionally to this day and am amazed at how well it stands up to the test of time. Dirt is a lot like that, treading a fine balance between realism and approachability, gradually sucking you in while ramping up the challenge, all the while remaining a blast to play. The Wolfy among us
Hell yeah! My favorite game of all time! the original Dirt, and Grid 1 had me a Codies fan boy for a long time! I'm really psyched... I loved this game when it came out... Hope they have more of the actual race tracks, rather than those street circuits. I hated bumping into those barriers! But the damage Thanks, does it have splitscreen multiplayer ? the first grid had, and Dirt 3 also had, so I am guessing that this will have too. achilles
Hmm. I'm going to buy it. I've been itching for a good racing game which I can just get into, enjoy and get out in bursts. I have a question, if I buy a physical copy from here, will I be able to 'redeem' that code from steam and download the game? Cox the physical copy is like $5 and the download is $15. I can't use the disc however, my computer is without a DVD drive.

Because after the code is redeemed, we get a message as retail game. For example, after I redeemed SR3 code, I got a message Saints Row The 3rd Retail. Still not sure, maybe you can download the game if there is no disc. Just get an external DVD writer to save the hassle of downloading. First game was around 8-9 GB, this one will be more if not less.

Earlier, Codies games used the Games for Windows Live DRM, which meant the codes that came with the physical copies wouldn't be redeemable in Steam. But AFAIK Dirt Showdown uses the Steamworks DRM, which means that the code you get with it can be redeemed in Steam (and you would also need Steam to install it via disc). So basically, you'll have to check if Grid 2 uses Steamworks. If a game uses Steamworks (will say on back of the box), you can redeem the code in Steam. I hope it's Steamworks. GFWL completely ruined the Dirt 3 experience for me. I hope Codies has ditched GFWL for good. They have good PC ports and GFWL just ruins it all. Joy
If I liked dirt series will I like grid? Is it more of a sim than arcade ? Both are different , but you will love it for sure. Try Grid if you can , its one of the best racers ever made , a true evolution from the epic Toca Race Driver series. Online was the best part , much better than any racer out there at that time , never played Forza so can't compare. Grid was semi simulation , it had settings before race to opt for sim or arcade modes even in online. Best part was the variety , it carried from Toca Race Driver and added even more , American Muscle cars on Street Tracks , typical European Champions on famous European curcuits and lastly Japanese tuners for drift which I hated. Definitely the most anticipated racing game from now on for me. NFS Porsche Unleashed , the name speaks for itself , even today its great to play and even to look at. I'd be happier if they just went ahead and released the game as a standalone software

Okay, so Steam will recognise it as a retail copy which I can play online with but won't let me download the game in case I need to. Fair enough. I may just get the external casing for my DVD writer from an old Macbook, won't work under Mac but should work under Windows. Maybe.
