My PS3 Slim HDMI Cable outer casting get REALLY HOT .. it almost burned my finger when i touched it .. it's after 30 to 45 minutes playing ..

It is well ventilated so no ventilation problem, what else it could be .. do i have to worry, will it damage my PS3 anywhere

I think its just the heat from your ps3. The port being very close to the ventilation of the ps3 the hot air from the ps3's ventilation might be heating up the HDMI's outer casting.

Take a look at this

http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2010/01/ps3-gets-fried-in-mysterious-hdmi-blaze/

Sh*t man .. i can't even imagine

Lol don't worry. Those are very very rare cases. YLOD's are more common lol!

Next time it heats up just remove the cable and check whether the male connector is also heating up.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the cable as it would leave to a no signal. Just to be sure change the cable and see whether it is heating up.

The cable heating up is a pretty common thing.

I just hope so dude .. Well i did removed and checked the cable unfortunately it gets hot but not as hot as outer shell .. my main concern is will it damage my PS3 anywhere, HDMI Port ..??

can i play it longer without being worried about heating ...

My HDMI Cable is red gear, outer shell is of Stainless steel and inner is coated with 24k gold (That's what they said)

If the inner part is not heating up as much as the outer shell, then there is definitely nothing wrong. Stainless Steel explains a lot! No, it won't damage your PS3. If you are so worried, then just get a cable with a plastic or rubber outershell for the connector. Extended play will not damage the PS3 ( Provided that it has proper ventilation).

If there won't be any problem then i will continue with my current HDMI Cable,

BTW, which cable you are using ..??

Try changing the cable with some another one and notice the behavior.

So do i change the cable with plastic or rubber casing ..?? the other end which is connected to Monitor is OK .. only the part connected to PS3 gets hot
