The GOAT Valentino Rossi46
Guys, please think twice before buying Creative Inspire T6160, as it can't be directly connected to the PS3 or your T.V. It is primarily meant for computers. To connect it to the PS3 or TV, you will require some 3-way adapter and it won't give you good quality sound. I found this out after searching many forums. The best choice for budget 5.1 speakers is definitely Logitech Z506. They are the best 5.1 available for PS3 in the budget range. It can be connected directly to your PS3/X-Box, T.V, mobile, laptop etc. They provide the necessary cables along with it. To connect it to the PS3, you will need to use the cables which you get with the PS3. I have ordered it from Infibeam.com for 5.5k. Will receive it in a few days. I shall post my comments on the speakers once I get it. Cheers. You cannot directly connect to TV or PS3. You need 'Logitech 5.1 Game Console adapter Convert RCA Plugs to A single 1/8' to use this speakers. Logitech Z506 is also good choice. But he is looking for something between 4-6k. FSB
^^^ Here, it says that they can be connected directly! I am now a little confused. I guess, I would have to check it out practically once I receive the speakers. Ram Dante
Its best to get a speakers which can accept optical inputs, cuz ps3 does optical, this way you will also get DTS/Dolby Digital sound.
Big Boss
^Yeah, can you list a few? Flipkart doesn't show type of input in many speakers and then searching becomes PITA.
SD_2007
OP, u can find Z506 any good computer shop. I used it for last 1 year, it sound amazing. 1st 15 days u can't understand it original sound quality bcoz u have to give almst 100 hrs of burn time, after that it just flying off. U can cnect it through RCA cable which is provided wid ps3. btw don't go for creative speaker. I used it in the past, I found it provides cracked sound in higher volume. Ram Dante
^Yeah, can you list a few? Flipkart doesn't show type of input in many speakers and then searching becomes PITA. The logitech Z5400 / Z5500 / Z680 / Z906. Except for the Z680 everything else is 15k+. Its best to get a entry level AV Home Theatre system, with the AV Receiver you can even connect the HDMi cable directly to the Receiver some of which gets you HD audio(Dts HD/ Dolby True HD). There are some models in philips starting from 15k I think, although I would suggest getting a Yamaha entry level esp the YHT-196(~20k) is damn awesome and you ll be surprised at the sound and how much you were missing all these days at you home. if this is your first HT setup that is.Also recommended, Onkyo these are even better for Movies/Gaming, current entry level model is HTS 3400, I personally own one of this at home, trust me its damn fine! FSB
I got Logitech Z506 delivered yesterday. Tried connecting it to the PS3 with the PS3 composite audio cable (Red and White, leaving aside the yellow alone, as I use HD for video). It made a terrible hissing noise and the sound was virtually non-existent. Then I connected the speakers directly to my TV, through the Variable audio out section on my LG 32". It worked like a charm. All the sound from the TV now comes through these speakers, including the games, movies etc I play on the PS3. It is not true 5.1 surround sound but does an excellent job. Sound comes through all 5 speakers and the sub-woofer is pretty good too. It is virtual 5.1 and you can hear certain distinct sounds from the rear speakers which give you a surround feel. All in all, a good deal for starters. Sounds 10 times better than TV speakers. At 75 watts, it packs a decent punch! Thank you 'DS_2007' bro, for suggesting these fine speakers. Big Boss
Now I will have to check whether my stupid TV has variable out. It seems it doesn't support it when viewing stuff on HDMI mode
