skidred
Well Whenever I ship items from Dtdc even if the cost is as minimum as 500 they gave me a declaration to sign and give me an insurance...How did they not give u Well just yesterday Dtdc Forced me do to shipment by dtdc plus/lite(Not sure) cause the value was high and when i asked previous times also the value was the same but they said now some rules have changed and for higher valued goods Dtdc plus/lite is forced because of frequent Misplaced shipments... godspeed4476
I would say share the loss 50:50, but the seller should try his best to get the parcel recovered, because unless the product is stolen, the parcel eventually gets sent back to the seller. I was about to face the similar situation a few weeks back, I had sent a game to one of the member, but when i checked the parcel did not get delivered to the buyer as the AFL guys said house was locked, but the buyer claimed tht no 1 was ever out of the house, it seems AFL guys jotted down the address pincode in their record, the buyer eventually got the game, coz i contacted the AFL guys and told them about the whole issue, but had the game been lost in transit it would not have been my mistake, but i would have shared the damage with the buyer. IMO if the buyer has not explicitly asked for the package to be insured, then its not the sellers responsibility to get the insurance.
piper
I received a DTDC plus consignment within 24hrs, dispatched from Kerala to Bangalore. And I got calls from the DTDC office (two calls) to confirm I'd received the parcel, and the time when I'd received it. Hence, use a better courier service. Of course, insuring = 100% monetary safety. How much does insuring cost, and what is the process?
DealinGames
guys-- one thing i m trying to say..all the couriers in that consignment were stolen. TOtal number of 24 peices were stolen from that consignment our of which 1 of the peice was my courier. i have seen that torn up conditions of some parcels but i cant found mine even though. DTDC has lost the consignment in mid of distance Please note seller has not insured the product and as said earlier by some member product should be declared and insured but our seller has not done anything. now how come i have to suffer. anyway its athek (our admin)saying so i will go as per our admin says. DealinGames
insuring cost is 4% of total declared value. But our seller has not declared any value bcz he felt dtdc will be best. but i am the worst sufferer and today i went to DTDC office and they said you need to insure the courier before sending any courier and i was clueless. Neither i can shout on these courier guy for my parcel neither our Seller (iman) can do anything. But i am still on one point why did our seller not insured his product before sending to me. i never said him to not to insure the product. I never said him to use DTDC or any courier service. He asked me total amount i deposit as per asked. he mentioned courier price i did that. only after complete deposit of amount he sended courier still i got suffered of lost package . chalo i don't think i would go anywhere no bcz courier is lost and after 20 days dtdc guys replied that you need to insurance of your courier before sending. learned my lesson hardway. thanks to all for there comments and value. waiting for IMan to reply on this. When sales take place in such a way, its not like flipkart or some firm which is sending you products. The seller is just like a normal person on the net just like you. That is one. Second, when you have purchased the item, how come you didnt asked for insured shipping..? I mean once u have paid the money, its yours.. right? You should have atleast asked or spoken about it, which not too many people do. Insurance would automatically mean that the 8k would have gone up and you would have paid added amount. Nobody spoke about it as to avoid the increment and hence after loosing the consignment, you split the loss on 50-50 basis. How come you are the only one to suffer when the loss is being split..? DealinGames
@i truly accept what you trying to say. but even as vendor when i send my goods i do insurance of the product by default. seeing his feedback i taught he must have done insurance as most of the people do .\ in case if he would have asked about the additional cost i would have certainly paid. i know everyone is right but i am just putting my point on this. Spacescreamer
@i truly accept what you trying to say. but even as vendor when i send my goods i do insurance of the product by default. That is a commendable attitude mate. And the last bit from your post shows good intention from your side. Nice to see that during tuff times. Thing is, the reg people who sell the stuff here dont do it on such a big scale that they be absorbing the hits all by themselves. And same goes for the buyers as well. Insurance must be discussed by one of the either parties before couriering the stuff. That holds true for any trade. Its just bad luck that a big consignment got lost. Noctis
Both the buyer and seller is equally responsible in this case as neither brought up the issue of insurance during the trade. So 50/50 sounds about right. Though Im surprised that DTDC has completely washed their hands off this matter just because the consignment was not insured. So that basically means their employees are free to steal anything not insured? And did you check if they have lodged a complaint with the police? DealinGames
thanks to all people for there valuable suggestion- a small brief of what dtdc guy told me and Iman if product is not insured they wont do anything. even if product is insured it takes atleast 3 months - 6 months for money to come back they said you have to declare your value as per actual s and you have to do insurance as per the actuals One more worst part in this story- Iman booked courier with AIR courier but DTDC officer sended this courier by surface . So courier was stolen in between Train (which is surface only) Worst part dtdc guy didnt intimated neither of us that courier is lost... @for sagar --when courier is lost and its not insured in that case DTDC guy will say you GTFO.....as they told us in another way....
