Another thread of armchair activists

If one really wants to make a difference then one should be prepared to come out and work for it. Join civil services, defense services, psu, govt rural medicos. Don't sit with your 6 figure mnc salary and wake twice a year to mudsling at the current affairs.

If nothing, then at lest vote.

reped

I guess OP made this thread, just to bitch about. That is why I see him respond to everyone who is not proud to be an Indian, like if said dude is a criminal. When Udham pointed out that he is not proud, it was his personal opinion, so is the case with Jhaaag, and others. Why harp on about economy though?

Anyways, since OP is being a little (you know what), I would like to remind him that Indian economy is not as good as he thinks. Ask anyone who works in share market, how is the ROI on anything other than oil or IT, and you will understand the situation. Whole of Indian economy will go to dustbin, if US and UK pass one simple law stating "Company based in the country must have all development centers in the country. That is, no outsourcing of any jobs will be permitted", for even 2 years. So, there is that.

Apart from that, the whole discussion is meaningless. We as a Indian, have less things to be proud of everyday. A particular political party talks so much about culture, stops people from even mingling with others, and then ask a pornstar to do a show for the voters, very next day. Another political party bribe ministers to vote for presidential candidate of party's choice. Bomb blasts take place almost every week, and there is never any justice for the same. Tourism keeps going down, because of bad behaviour from auto drivers. IT industry keep reducing the no. of resources to increase profit, and blatantly makes fun of labour laws. Every one just keeps harping on about old culture and history, and completely ignores historical building, peeing and spitting on the walls. I don't see any of this changing, in next 5 years, cuz no one bothers to take decisions that might change this situation.

Add to that, all we do is have a similar discussion every independence or republic day, and that is it. I ask you OP, why today? Why not tomorrow? Let me guess, you woke up in the morning, and realised today is a holiday, so switched on the TV; saw the parade, and started feeling pumped up, and went ahead and create a thread. Isn't that right? And then you wonder why people like Udham, Jhaag, or myself feel there is nothing left in India to be proud of.

Everyone has a right to express his feelings. you got any problem if I made this thread?

Whatever Nemo said. Stop being an armchair activist. I would have loved the idea of having a long discussion if it was started on any other day. Right now, your head is not in the game, man. Drink a glass of water, splash some on your face, and then post again. :)

Lolllll

Its the same with me. I got a good rank in Engineering entrance exam and my forking friend from SC got last rank in the entrance exam and we were in the same engineering college. WTF was that?

ya same with , i got first class in 10th and i knew i wont get admission in good colleges in mumbai , but but many of my friends got in either in gujrati quota or muslim quota ,christian quota or obc or sc or any other quota , heck my school mate who scored 40% got easily in nm college mumbai one of reputed college for commerce , closing list for general was 85% he got from gujrati quota.

i joined low college and the principal ask to let other joins , then i have no place anywhere ,is it my fault for this ? i would definitely blame reservation .only poor who really are should get quota but that too if scores very good for medical or higher streams or he should join other streams

Sucks man. Have experienced all of this first hand during graduation days and now experiencing again for PG. Reservation is the bane of our country. :|

I forgot to mention one more thing mate. We were in the same college like I said. By Gods grace I got a free seat (paid 9000 Rs on our own) in Engineering. But my SC friend got payment (need to pay 46,000 Rs per annum). Guess who paid the fee for four years for him? The government! on top that he got scholarship for every year. They used to do strikes etc in the college when they got their scholarship lil bit late. But What did I get? My a*s!

Its quite simple - you cannot fix socio-economic inequalities with reservations.

This whole thing has gone wrong from quite some time, there is simply no cure for it.

What are you doing to fix our broken country?

You wont fight the system if you don't feel if there is anything wrong with it. Knowing right and wrong, is the only thing which matters when its the time to pick a side. And that is what you can do...

true my my college principal who is from sc and trustee , said in one meeting which was held for dr babasaheb ambedkar jayanti, .

he asked the students , " for ex if a house servent or kaamwali daughter or son scored 50% in 12th and you scored 90% in 12 who should get seat in medical or any higher stream" , i knew what he was after , some my friends innocently told the one with 90% , he said wrong in angry mood .

Reminds me of the similar situation in my school ..

Only difference was that kamwaali's bai so scored 70% and the general category guy scored 90%
