All Naruto Arcs: Great buildup -> decent battle -> flashback -> plot hole -> moar flashback -> moar plot holes -> Naruto FNJ , i was like you once when i didn't take anything seriously , i thought yeah why are they always showing sasuke in such a popular position , baruto & sasuke was a typical anime frenemy thing , sakura was like twilights smella & sasuke fangirls in the anime were like , edward fans , it was a normal story , i was like yeah ok , nothing out of the ordinary , but when i started shippuden , i started to take naruto's resolve seriously , i understood how sakura felt about sasuke , for her he was like the school crush we had for a girl , yet skipping ahead & when the people in konoha knew sasuke wants to destroy the village the sasuke fangirls along with sakura showed mature behavior & decided to end the threat , sakura a bit foolishly yet with a pure mature mindset decided to kill sasuke herself & bare the pain alone instead of giving the grief to others of killing what was once a fellow comrade Friends like Naruto are really hard to find in such a day & age , The guy doesn't even care if he lives or dies , just wants to see the people who hated him , forced him to total solitude , be happy & the bond thing is not just another gimmick , naruto had no true friend , rivalry leads to deep bonds , whether respect , hate , whatever , but as the events unfolded in naruto , sasuke saved naruto in the start , then naruto wanted to become more reliable & not be a burden to anyone & the later character development that follows in the entire series is just hard work , you see all the anime DBZ , Bleach , Fairy Tail , all of those are protagonist centric , you need goku , ichigo , natsu to save the day , but in naruto every character feels like a soldier on a battlefield , anyone & everyone can be a hero , naruto is the focus of it all but his parents to gave their heart & souls for the village so he deserves the attention And if i recall naruto never was like yeah we only need naruto to save the day , in sasori & daidara saga naruto required assistance of kakashi , he was helped by many people when he learned rasen shuriken , the fight with kakuzou showed a glimpse of the ever so improving strength of naruto , et it never felt a fight which the hero eventually will win , it felt like hidan & kakuzou may screw up the situation , but naruto showed his resolve & came through , even during the pain saga , naruto was more like a last hope than a savior , , if jiraiya had escaped without the final confrontation with pain then , both might have fought pain ,even till date naruto doesn't feel like the centre point , during the ninja war both naruto & killer bee were kept safe , this eliminated all possibility of saying yeah naruto is the main reason the war started , naruto s just the part of a big big huge picture And the most awesome genius by kishimoto is answering the question , " yeah this is a ninja anime why are people not killing senselessly , specially the main protagonist " , well kishimoto's reason for naruto , that killing will lead to hatred so if i kill or destroy someone for revenge then people associated with him or his family will try to get revenge against me & then this will result in a never ending cycle of hatred , i promised my sensei that i will bring peace to the shinobi world & if i act on the path of revenge i won't be able to keep that promise , this is the best reason i found not to kill along with kenshin himura's which involved the horrors of war , i never was fully convinced with batmans intent for not killing , he just says that i will be no different from the villains but i never fully digested that , but that is another story , the point is kishimoto puts his heart & soul into making every line as sensible he can when it's not a comic statement , though i found the comic statements fun too I Read somewhere that kishimoto stated that each character from the series represents a part of himself , a fine writer / mangaka like him deserves nothing but the highest respect , watch the entire naruto series with a blank mind & i really hope you understand the depth of the characters Not directed at anyone but those who consider naruto as just another mainsteam anime , have no understanding of when a anime is being funny & when it actually is serious about everything that goes in the story , never insult the awesomeness that is naruto , or else you will get these long posts frequently , i wont have kid level understanding of such a masterpiece , those who even consider this as a dbz clone have no understanding beyond following a hit franchise so that they can sleep better during the night ! However that doesn't change the fact that it's a pretty average albeit popular series out there. Compared to some other works, it's nowhere near their league. We grew up watching Naruto, Keyword: Grow. The series didn't grew, it still try to cater to the kids, cause that's where the money lies just like PG WWE The world isn't black & white/face & heel. There are a lot more complex stuff that happens. Grow up ffs. @ Nitro: No offence but you are just a delusional fanboy who is too butthurt/defensive to see reasons. The twists in the story are well done, although the Fisherman's arc was a bit straightforward. Naruto has too many plotholes, especially when it comes to the Uchiha and their powers. Honestly, I find Madara's power absolutely ridiculous, and the whole Edo Tensei extremely stupid. Oh well. Fairy Tail is decent too, but even that has its share of LOLWUT moments.
