Problems with v2.20 firmware update

Roughly about a week ago, Sony released the Firmware 2.20 update. Instead of it updating the system with improved changes and fixes, apparently, it's causing problems when streaming mpeg-4 files.

Over at the official PlayStation forums, those who are afflicted with this problem have already begun airing out their concerns. They noticed that after they updated their consoles, streaming mpeg-4 files wasn't that good. The videos were stuttering to the point that the videos were completely unplayable.

Aside from this, some even posted additional problems that they were experiencing. Streaming mpeg-2 files at 10x, 30x, and 120x speeds run only at a tenth of the designated speeds. Also, users have found out that skipping over unwanted content has become something that was very difficult to do.

Connection issues and media server issues have been ruled out. DivX/XviD files that have a higher bit work just fine. Media servers such as Tversity, Twonky Media and Nero Home Media have all been tested clean.

So what's seriously going on with the Firmware? Well, we'll just have to wait and see until Sony releases something official to immediately resolve this issue.

whatever most of my files are xvid/divx so who gives a damn :(

this thread is for any one finding problems with v2.20 system update

Bug in Folding @ Home,

I discovered this bug while playing around with this application,

Apparently the whole PS3 freezes when a webpage is launched from the application like when you wanna check stats and other stuff.

This doesn't happen all the time but i have had this atleast two times now. The main Power Button doesn't work so i need to switch it off from the back of the console. Really pissing.

I know this has nothing to do with the firmware but just a bug that i came across.
